REPORT OF THE IKDEPENDENT AUDITORS TO THE MEMBERS OF NORTHERN IRELAND MUSIC THERAPY TRUST LIMrfED (continued) FOR THE YEAR ENDED 31 MARCH 2023 We assessed the susceptibility of the company's fmancial ststements to material misstatement, including obtaining an understanding of how fraud might occur. by.. "making enquiries of nlagernent as to wher¢ they considered there was suscept1 ility to fraud, theirknowledge of actual. suspected and alleged fraud. 'considering the internal contro15 in place to mitigate risks of fraud and non-compliance with laws and regulations. To address the risk of fraud through management bias and oveIde of controls, we: 'perforn]ed analytical proce(heS to identify any unusual or unexpected relationships; •tssted journal entries to identify unusual transactions. In response to the risk of irregularities and non-compliance with laws and regulations, we designed procedures wbich included. but were not limited to: •ae]ng fmancial statement disclosures to underlying supporting documentstion. •reading the minutes of meetings of those charged witb governance. •enquiring of management as to actual and potential litigation and claims. There are inherent limitations in our audit procedures described above. The more removed that laws and regulations are from fmancial transaction5, the les5 likely it is that we would become aware of non-cotnpliance. Auditing standards also limit the audit procedures required to identify non-compliance with laws and regulations to enquiry of the directors and other tnanabFement and the inspection of regulatory and legal coespOndenCe, if amy. Material mi55tatements that arise due to fraud can be harder to detect than those tbat arise from error as they may involve deliberate concealment or collusion.
