The charlty exlsts to provlde therapeutlc rldin8 and contact wfth horses to thlldren and
young adults with special needs in the Ballyclare area.
The group nornially meets Thursday mornings during terni tirne for a total of 24 weeks
during the year. We started back in October 2023 with three separate rides. The first group
come from Roddensvale sc1K￿. the second ride Is made up of Indlvlduals brought by their
carers. The last rlde come from Jordanstown sthool. The rfders who come from sthool
Broups chan8e every fA weeks to gfve more thlldren the opportunlty to experience the
benefrts and enjoyment of rklln& 8roup of Indmduals come every week. Where
possible our rklers work towards their RDA grade test&
We meet at Laurefview Equestrlan centre. where we use the Indoor school and ponies
thanks to the generoslty of Robert and Llnda Davts. Our main cost Is our payments to
Laurelvlew of £6(X)/term towards our use of the faalitie5 and ponies. This was a nominal fee
paid to Laurefview. from next year the prices will increase to refiect industry wlde prkes for
arena and pony hlre. we wlll be payin8 approxlmately £130/week. Alx). we pay fees for
membership and insurance to RDA headquarters In England. group instructors,
organiser and helpers are all volunteers. We now have only one fulty qualified instructor.
Sylvia and Mar80 is training to be an instructor.
(￿r maln source of income is our education authority grant. We have also had some very
generous donations from the w￿art Group and East Antrim hound& We ended the year
with a dosing balance of £11761.
The public benefft delivered by Ballydare group is relletted in the enjoyment and
achievements of our riders. Some of our riders are extremely nervous when they start and it
Is wonderful to See them gain self confidence. Physlcally, the riders benefit from
improvements to their core stren8th. coordination, mobillty and balance.
We make every efftirt to ensure the rides are COnd￿ted safely. using trained volunteers
under the supervision of a qualified instructor. All our instructors and volunteers have
completed Enhanced Access Nl checks. Our 8roup ha5 an up to date safe8uard5n8 policy.
Every session has a qualified first alder in attendance.

We consider that we have regard to the Commisslon's 8uldarKe on public benefft and have
fulfilled our obligations in this respect.
