for its beneficiaries. It includes both costs that can b¢ allocated directly to such activities and thos¢ costs of an
indirect nature necessary to support them.
Support Costs

Impairment of fixed assets
Assets not carried at fair value aTe also reviewed for impairment whenever events or chancres in circumstances
indicate that the carrying atnount may not be recoverable. An impairnieT)t loss is recoonised for the amount by
which the asset. s carryino ainount exceeds its recoverable ainount.
The recovei-able amount is th¢ hitther of an asset's fair value less costs to sell aiid value in use. Value in use is
deflned ￿ tli¢ present value of the future pre-tax and int¢rest cash flows obtainable as a result of th¢ assel"s
contiiiued use. The pre-tax and interest cash flows are discounted iisinty a prt-tax discount rate that represents
the cunent Lnarlcet risk free risk and the risks inherent in the asset. For the purposes of assessing impairmenL

Trade debtors
Trdde debtors are amounts due from custoTners for merchandise sold or services performed in the ordinary
eoiirse of business.
Trade debtors art i'ecognised initially at il)e transactioii pi-ice. They are subsequently I￿e￿LITed at amortised cost
using the effective interesi In¢thod, less provision for impainnent. A provision for the impainneTtt of trade
debtoi's is established when there is objective evidence Éhat the charity will not be able to collect all amouiits diie
according to the orioinal terins of the receivabl¢s.
Cash and c85h equivalents
Cash aiid cash equivalents comprise Cash on hand and call deposits, and otlier short-ttrm highly liquid

Tr8de creditors
Trade crediiors are obligations to pay for tyoods or services tliat have been acquired in the ordknary course of
business from suppliers. AccouT)ts payable are classified as current liabilities if the charity does not have an
unconditional ri(yht, at the end of tlie reportin<F period, to defer settlement of the creditor for at least twelve
montlis after the repoTting date. If there is an uncollditional rioht to defer settlement for at least twelve months
after the reporting date, they are pres¢nted as non-currenr liabilities.
Trade creditors are recocynised initially at the transaction price and subsequently Ineasured at amortised cost
using the effective interest Inethod.
Borroivings
Interest-bearing borrowings are initÈally record¢d at fair value. net of transaction costs. Interest-bearing
borrowings are subsequently carried at amortised cost, with the difference between the proceeds, net of
transaction costs, and the amount due on redemption being recooJised as a charge to the Statement of Financial
Activities over the period of the relevant borrowing.
Interest expense is recognised on the basis of th¢ effective interest method and is included in interest payable
and siniilar ch&roes.
Borrowin(Js are classified as current liabilities unless the charity has an unconditional right to defer settlement of
the liability for at least twelve months after the reporting date.
Fund structure
Unrestricted income funds are general funds tha£ are available for use at the trustees discretion in fuitherance of
the objectives of the chaiity.
Restricted income funds are those donated for use in a particular area or for specific puiyoses, tlie use of wliicli
is resti-icted to that area or puipose.
Pensions 2nd other post retireTnent obligations
The charity operates a defined contribution pension scheme which is a pension plan under which fixed
contributions are paid into a pension ￿nd and the ch&rity has no leoal or constructive obligation to pav furth¢r
contributioiis even if the fund does not hold sufficient assets to pay all employe¢s tlie benefits relatinis to
employee seivice in the CUiTent and prior periods.
Contributions to defined contribution plans are recognised in the Statement of Finaiicial Activities when they are
due. If contribution payments exceed the contribution due for sei'vice, the excess is recognised as a pr¢payinent.
Finaiicial instruments
c{￿$S1￿1CatIon
Financial assets aT>d financial liabilities are recogiiised when the charity become5 a party to the contractual
provisions of the instrument.
Financial liabilities and equity ir]struments are classified according to the substance of tlie Contractual
arranttemeiiis entered into. An equity instrument is any coiitract that evidenc¢s a residual interest in the tlssets of
the ¢liv¢ ity aftei- deducting all of its Siabilities.

Recognilion éind pneusiirenienl
All financial ￿setS and liabilities are initially m¢asured at transaction price (includinc5 transaction costs), except
for those financial assets classified as at fair value through profit or loss, which are initially measured at fair
value (which is noiThally the transaction pric¢ ¢xcluding transaction costs), unle5S the arrangement constitutes a
financing transaction. If an arran(¥ement constitutes a financing transaction, the financial Osset or flnancial
liability is ineasured at the present value of the fLlture payments discounted at a maTket rate of interest for a
similar debt instrument.
Fiiian¢ial assets and liabiliti¢s are oiily offset in the statement of financial posltiQT) when, and only when there
exists a le¢yally enfoi-ceabl¢ i-joht to set off the recognised ainounts and the Gharity intends either to settle on a
iiet basis, or to realise the IL sset and settle the liability simulttneously.
Financial 8ssets are derecognised when and only when a) the contizctual rights to the cash flows ftom the
financial asset expire OT are settled, b) the charity transfers to another party substantially all of the rigks and
rewards of ownership of the financial asset, or c) the chai'ity, despite havin￿ retained some, but not all.
sj(Ynificant risks and rewards of ownershipi has transferred control of the assel to another party.
Financial liabilities are deTecognised only when the oblioation specified in the contract is dischartsed: cancelled
or expires.
riiir value meu,surenienl
The best evidence of fair value is a quoted price for an idenl'ical asset in an active inarket. When quoted prices
ar¢ unavailable, the price of a recent tTan5action for an identical asset provides evidence of fair value as lon￿ as
there has not been a sionificant change in tconomic circumstances or a significant lapse of tilne since the
transaction took pla¢e. If the marlcet is TJOt active and recent transactions of an identical asset on th¢ir own are
not a good estiinate of fair value, the fair value is estimated by usiniF a valuation technique.
