This template is to provide guidance to units who are completing a Trustee Annual Report for the NI Charity Commission. If you do not wish to use this form please ensure that the headings in this guidance are followed when completing a Trustee Annual Report.
All Girlguiding Ulster Charities are governed by the Royal Charter and Bye-laws.
The Purpose of each of these Charities is to educate girls and young women to help them develop emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually so that they can make a positive contribution to their Community and the wider world.

A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements in the year
A very busy and enjoyable year in the Rainbows! Numbers were disappointing at the beginning of the year but 13 Rainbows learnt about Festivals Around the World by “Looking, Learning, Laughing and Loving” which are the four pieces of jigsaw which make up a Roundabout which is a badge. These badges are gained by doing various activities such as craft, games, stories drawing and colouring in which is based on each subject. As well as this we made gifts for Mother’s Day learnt about our Patron Saint St. Patrick. We took part in our Annual Thinking Day Service when we remembered The Guide Movement throughout the World. We had joint parties and activities with the Brownies so that Rainbows, especially those due to join Brownies would get a taste of it. In December we finished the year by going to the Pantomime in the Courtyard Theatre Ballyearl “Cinderella” and at the end of the Pantomime we were able to visit Santa and every Rainbow got a present from him. I believe the Rainbows enjoyed our varied programme learning many skills by not realising so. I owe my grateful thanks to the team of leaders who support me week in and week out. During the year we did not have any incidents or harm flowing from the Charities purposes and there was no private benefit.
A statement that the Trustees have had regard to the Commission’s Public Benefit requirement statutory guidance
In setting our objectives and planning our activities for the year the trustees have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland’s guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the charity’s purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiari es.
A review of the Charity’s financial position at the end of the year
The Income for the year ended December 2017 was £979.36 and the total expenditure for the year was £ 770.99 leaving a balance of £208.37 to carry over to the following year. The account stayed in the black and we did not have any debt.
Details of any fund held by the Charity that was materially in deficit at the end of the year and steps taken by the Charity Trustees to eliminate the deficit
There were no funds held by the Charity that was materially in deficit at the end of the year.
