WI GROW Glrlguiding The flnanclal year the report relates to- for example, I" Aprll 2016 to 31" March 2017 I" January 2023 to 31" December 2023 A summary of the Charlvs main artlvltles to further Its purposes for the publlc beneflt and the maln achlevements In the year The brownie5 and guides continued to meet as a single unit from January to May 2023, but as two separate units from September 2023, due to bigger numbers and a greater spread of ages, to make planning activities easier. Numbers remain relatively small, but constant, with good attendance during the year. Badges completed were: the Glrlguiding Ulster Centenary badge, Includlng preparlng and burying a tlme capsule in the church grounds; Hallowe'en fun badge; Fire Safety and First Aid badges were also awarded; and many fun experiment5 done working for the Science badge. We had special 'themed' evenin85, Involving a variety of different actlvitles, for Thanksglving, Remembrance Day, Christmas , Burns Night, Valentine's Day, St Patrick's Day, Easter, and the Kln8'5 Coronation. The girls went shopplng in Tesco for the food bank, worklng out the best value for the set amount they were given to spend. On another week, they visited the food bank to hand over the items, and learn something about its work. The GuSdes made Christmas cards, and baked Traybakes, for our annual Chrlstmas Sale, whlch thls year was In ald of the Nl Children's Hospice. Thls was well supported, and the girls enjoyed being'baristas, for the evenlng. On another night, a representative from the Hosplce visited the unlt, and spoke to the glrls about its work and how the money would help. We had a sleepover on a Friday in the church hall, when we did a treasure hunt, and made s'mores over a campfire. Then on Saturday we travelled to Lorne for activities- archery, a beach walk, picnic lunch, and the play park. We enjoyed playlng different games, both indoors and outdoors. Captainball remains a firm favourite. We dld activitie5 based around the Guide Promise, including maklng a giant logo of the bad8e. We held our Promise Ceremony outside on the night we buried the time capsule. For Thinkin8 Day {when we think all the members of the organisatlon around the world), we exchanged cards with a number of units in other parts of the UK. We had a wall rnap showing where the cards we received in return were from. In all these activities, there was no harm flowing from the charitls purposes, and there was no private benefit.
