A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements in the year
25 girls took part in the unit over the year, 5 leaving at age 7 mid-year to go on to Brownies, and 4 leaving in June 2023. This was the first full year when we could meet face-to-face since 2020.
Badges achieved: Some girls attained the Healthy Mind badge, and the Be Well Theme Award. Girls also attained the Drawing badge, and Express Myself Theme Award. A local beekeeper gave a presentation on bees, to help us complete the Bee Challenge badge. We completed several Unit Meeting Activities related to the themes. 11 girls made their Promise. Older girls gained the Bronze Award for completing 2 Theme Awards. Some girls now have 3 Theme Awards, having worked on the Take Action Theme.
Interspersed with badge work were crafts, songs and games, intended to help with team building, sharing, and creativity, and we were able to be outdoors most weeks during the summer term for activities like tree rubbing.
In May, each girl helped create a card to send to the King and Queen for the Coronation, using the rainbow motif, and a letter and card were received from Buckingham Palace in return. Girls enjoyed a Coronation party, making crowns etc.
Extra-curricular activities: In September, the girls helped man the Lucky Dip at the church annual fete, thereby raising £106, and in October, attended a Division party in our own hall, where the leaders assisted with/ran activities. The whole unit participated in a Santa trail at night, at Girlguiding Ulster HQ at Christmas, a very popular outing.

A review of the Charity’s financial position at the end of the year
Previous year’s income (2021-22): £2171.89. Expenditure: £1662.77. Balance at end of session: £1471.79.
Current year’s income (2022-23): £2,825.90. Expenditure: £2384.27. Balance at end of session: £1913.42.
All expenses were met for 2022-23. Reason for difference from previous year: income increased due to a grant from the Education Authority, and subscriptions for membership reverted to pre-Covid rates as we were able to offer a full year face-to-face. Expenditure increased for the same reason, resulting in the need for more badges, rent and materials. The amount sent for census subscriptions to HQ in London and Belfast increased.
Details of any fund held by the Charity that was materially in deficit at the end of the year and steps taken by the Charity Trustees to eliminate the deficit
