Girlguiding is the largest voluntary organisation forgiris and young women in the United Kingdom.
Modern Gu¥Jing aims to help them gain the confKIen￿. skills and experiences necessary to broaden
thelr horizons and reach for new goals. We provide a unique girl-only space, promote equality and
diversity, are relevant to todaWs girls and give them a voice. Along with seekinB to know Jesus Christ
and to share his lovè. that is what meeting on a Tuesday night Is all about.
Numbers have stayed steady. rf not a little lower than a few years aBO. and we continue to follow the
guide pmgramme. Followiryd on from the Brownie5 Visit we had Spud Bear5 at the beginning of the year
and were able to donate Teddies and a money contribution to support the work We joined with the
Rangers to have a Roller Disco, which was a great success and no broken bonesl The girls enjoyed a trip
to We are Vertl80. wherejessica had the plea5UTe of carrying out an enrolment on one of the
trampDlines!
We jolned loo other8irls and altended Snores & Summores. an actNity camp at Lorne. The glr15 got to
go on a clmnbing wall. do archery. team buildin8 games. Bush craft. a high ropes course. a river run and
much more. We visited Wee Choco, a social enterprise in Moneyreagh where the girls got to learn
about chocolate and make lots of examples. It was also good for them to learn about social enterprise
and that their money was supportin8 youn8 adults with leaming difficultles. We a150 had two amazing
nights in the hall with ihe National Deaf Children's Society and folks from the Blind Centre. It wa5 great
to leam of the work of these groups and ihey presented in an interestSng and challenging way. We were
a150 able to donate financially to both groups to help with the ongoing work. Our Guiding family all
joined tO8ether to sing Carols arbd Reuben spoke on ihe Christmas story. Phoebe and Grace were
selected for Internatronal trips next year, and Eve. Erin. Lauren, Emily and Beth received their Baden
Powell Award5 at the Qty Hall In May. Along wlth all the usual badge work. game5. food and activitie5 It
has been a busy year.
As 50rne of you kr￿W I was quite ill at the beginnin8 of last year and I must pay tribute to Jessica, Grace,
Emily and Sarah as ihey ran the Unlt forabout 12 weeks Without me- looking good for the futurel
Thank you also for your klnd words and prayets. they meant a lot. Please continue to pray that God
would help us to make a differen￿ in the gir15 INe5 and show his love to them.
