A summary of the Charlrfs maln actlv5tles to further its purposes for the publlc benefft and the
main achievements In the year
In the year from I" January 2023 to 31. De￿rnber 2023 our unit had 11 girls and 3 leaders. In
June 2023 we were concerned about the viability of our group as 4 out of our 8 girls were leaving
as they were too old. We encouraged the remaining 8irls to 5nvite friends and did some
advertising locally and were delighted when a new group of girls joined our group.
In our regular meetings we played lots of games, did craft. drama and cookery. Cookery was very
popular. For example, we made Valentines buns as well as bunny pancakes for Shrove Tuesday.
Some of the crafts we made were cards, fairy doors and easter egg t￿es. We also worked on
Girlguiding Skill Builders and Unit Meeting Activities. We completed our First Aid Skill Builder
learning vital new skills and grew plants and learned about caring for them with the Grow Your
Own Badge.
We celebrated World Thlnking Day by making a video to be shown in church and completed our
Thinking Day badge activities.
We had a great night learning about different sorts of ￿ptileS and insects with a visit from the
Amazon Jungle roadshow.
We enjoyed several trips including a night walk arourKI the local area followed by hot chocolate,
an enjoyable Christmas trip to see the pantomime at the Waterfront and a trip to the cinema to
see Wish.
It was a successful year and the girls developed numerous skills and grew in confidence. It was
also encouraging to see friendships developing amongst the girls who come from different
schools.
There was no harm flowing from the purposes of Girlguiding Ulster and there was no private
benefit flowing from the purposes.
