A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements in the year
The girls and leaders enjoyed a busy and productive year in Brownies. Girls developed friendships and social skills and had opportunities to take part in a range of activities including craft, cookery, games, singing, team building and badgework. Our Thinking Day Service was based on the theme ‘Our World, Our Future’ and enabled girls to develop their environmental awareness and how we can take care of our planet for our own and future generations. Girls also enjoyed parties and theme nights throughout the year and an end of year outdoor event. Brownies moving to Guides next year attended transition events, meeting the Guides and their leaders and taking part in adventurous activities at Lorne.
There was no harm flowing from the Charities purposes and there was no private benefit.
A statement that the Trustees have had regard to the Commission’s Public Benefit requirement statutory guidance
Charity Trustees have regard for the Commission’s Public Benefit requirement statutory guidance.
A review of the Charity’s financial position at the end of the year
Opening balance for the year 2018-19 totalled: £1792.30
Total Income: £1721.26 and Total Expenditure: £1350.00 Closing balance for the year 2022-23 totalled: £2163.56
Surplus (Listed as ‘money in hand’ on Accounts Overview): £371.26
It should be noted that £950 of expenditure was not paid out until September 2023. This is shown in the accounts on both the Overview and Expenditure pages. Therefore the closing balance at 31/8/23 on the bank statement was actually £3113.56 but following a withdrawal of £950.00 on 20/9/23 the amount in the bank was £2163.56.
The surplus of £371.26 was due to lots of activities being run inexpensively and using materials which we already had. As Guiding Census rises each year any surplus is used to offset additional expenditure in the future.
Details of any fund held by the Charity that was materially in deficit at the end of the year and steps taken by the Charity Trustees to eliminate the deficit
Income was greater than expenditure so there are no funds in deficit.
