A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements in the year

30 girls attended Brownies with 3 leaders.

We enjoyed a productive year in Brownies continuing with the existing programme and implementing parts of the new programme which aims to ensure greater progression through the various sections of Guiding. Each week girls took part in activities such as team building games, badge work, craft, singing and badge work. Our Thinking Day Service was based on ‘Leadership’ and enabled girls to think about positive role models and their own leadership skills. We held a joint ‘Dance-athon’ and St Patrick’s night with the Rainbow unit which the girls thoroughly enjoyed. We held parties at Hallowe’en and Christmas and a Parents’ and Friends’ Night at the end of the year. Girls had the option of a day away or overnight trip and almost all girls were able to attend. They built closer friendships and taking part in new and adventurous activities. We finished the year with transition events for the Brownies who will move on to Guides and a number of girls will join us from Rainbows in the new Brownie year.

Overall financial position

Opening balance for the year 2018-19 totalled £879.62

Total Income: £2631.68 and Total Expenditure: £2352.55

Closing balance for the year 2018-19 totalled £1074.10

There was a surplus of £279.13 due to claiming Gift Aid for both 2017-18 and 2018-19 during this period and having a larger pack which meant a greater total income and larger donations at Parents’ Night.

As Guiding Census is expected to continue to rise the surplus will help to offset this additional expenditure.

The Trustees are aware of the Commission’s Public benefit statutory guidance and have reviewed the documentation provided by the Commission on its website and taken this guidance into account.

There was no harm flowing from the Charities purposes and that there was no private benefit

A review of the Charity’s financial position at the end of the year

Details of any fund held by the Charity that was materially in deficit at the end of the year and steps taken by the Charity Trustees to eliminate the deficit

Although spending for the year was in deficit, there is still a surplus of funds overall including the bank account, therefore the charity is in a safe financial position.

The Trustees will continue to keep a close review of accounts.
