A summary of the Charl￿5 maln actlvltles to further Its purposes for the publ1¢ beneflt and the
maln achlevements In the year
The brownies and guldes continued to meet as a single unit from January to May 2023, but as
two separate units from September 2023, due to bigger numbers and a greater spread of ages,
to make planning activities easier. Numbers remaln relatively small, but constant, wlth good
attendance durlng the year.
8adges completed were: the Glrlguiding Ulster Centenary badge, Includlng preparing and
burying a time capsule in the church grounds,. Hallowe'en fun badge; Fire Safety and Flrst Aid
badges were also awarded. and many fun experiments done working for the Sclence badge.
We had speclal 'themed' evenlngs, Involving a variety of different actlvitles, for Thanksgivin&
Remembrance Day, Chrlstmas, Burns Night, Valentlne's Day, St Patrick's Day, Easter, and the
Kin8's Coronation.
The glrls went shopping In Tesco for the food bank, working out the best value for the set
amount they were 8iven to spend. On another week, they vislted the food bank to hand over
the items, and learn somethin8 about its work.
The Brownies made glft ta8s for our annual Christmas Sale, which this year was in aid of the Nl
Children's Hospice. This was well supported, and the Brownies enjoyed being 'shopkeepers' for
the evening. On another night, a representative frorn the Hospice vlsited the unit, and spoke to
the girls about its work and how the money would help.
We had a sleepover on a Friday in the church hall, when we did a treasure hunt, and made
s'mores over a campfire. Then on Saturday we travelled to Lorne for activitles- archery, a beach
walk, plcnic lunch, and the play park.
We enjoyed playlng different games, both indoors and outdoors.
We dld activities based around the Brownie Promise, including makin8 a 8iant logo of the badge.
We held our Promise Ceremony outside on the night we buried the time capsule.
For Thlnking Day (when we think all the members of the organisation around the world), we
exchanged cards with a number of units in other parts of the UK. We had a wall map showing
where the cards we received in return were from.
In all these activitles, there was no harm flowing from the chariws purposes, and there was no
private benefit.
