All Glrl8uldln8 Ulster Charltles are governed by the Royal Charter and Bye-laws.
The Purpose of each of these Charltles Is to educate glrls and young women to help them develop
emotlonally. mentally. physlcally and splrltually so that they can make a posltlve contrlbutlon to
thelr Communlty and the wlder world.

A summary of the Charl￿$ maln actlvftles to further Its purposes for the publlc beneflt and the
maln achlevements In the year
Durln8 2022, the brownies and guides continued to meet as a joint unit, as we start to build
again post-covid. Although numbers remain small, they are constant, with good attendance
throughout the year. A variety of actlvitles were undertaken:
Badges completed were: 'Feathers and Flamlngos,, which Included taklng part In the RSPB Great
Garden Bird Watch, and a vlsit from 'Wee Critters, where the girls met snakes, owls and
armadillos, to name a few; 'Chopsticks and Courage,, based on the Chinese New Year of the
Tl8er; 'Queen's Platinum Jubllee Badge,, wlth craft, history and a tea party; and 'Past, Present
and Future,, whlch had a number of challenges celebratin8 100 years of Girlguidin8 in Ulster.
We dld artlvitles teachlng the glrls about their Promise and Law, and had a special Promlse
Ceremony, with a visit from the Ulster Commissioner, Mrs Debble McDowell. On Thinklng Dav,
when we remember our sister guides In other units, we made thinkin8 day cards, and sent them
to brownle and gulde units In Scotland, Wales and England. We received ones In return, and had
an evenlng flndlng the places on a map and postin8 them on our notice board.
In the community, we visited our Council building at Mossley Mill, and were given a tour by the
Mayor. We shopped at Tesco for items for our local foodbank. And part of the proceeds of our
Christmas Sale were given to Air Ambulance Nl.
We enjoyed the out of doors with a weekend at Lorne, and did an actlvity on the Cllmbing Tower
there.
The girls continue to enjoy baking and craft activities. We planted violas In pots for Mothers
Day. had a Scottish evenin8 celebrating St Andrews Day: played captainball and other games,.
and had a Christmas Jumper fun evenlng to finish the year.
In all these activities. there was no harm flowing from the charlt(s purposes, and there was no
private beneflt.
