The Trustees present the annual report and statements of R8celpts and Payments and Ass8ts and Ltabilities
for the Church for the year ended 31 D8c8mber 2022.
Objectfves and Actlvltles
The charitabl8 purpose of the Church of Ireland is the advancem8nt of religion.
The principal funcllon of the Partsh of Woodschapel is to support the advancement of tha Christian rellglon by
promoting. through their work the whole mission of the Church. pastoral. evangelical, social and ecumenical.
Being open to and engaging with society as a whole and offertng support for tIN)se needlng hèlp a￿ fundamental
to the practical delNery of the benefits of Chrlstianty.
As a result of activity in the pursust of the advancement of the Chrislian religion. the Parish of Woc*Jschapel has
custody of property and of records. materials and artefacts of 5￿jnIfIcance to the cultural and rellg5ou5 heritage
and malntenance of which is undertaken by the Select Vesty of the Parish of Woods¢hapel.
Achievements. Perforniance & Publlc Benefft
This year has seen the relaxation of rules and r8gulatlons Imposed by the global pandemic. Weekly services
and some wmmunity activities were provided.
Both churches and the hall were utlllsed w]th caUt￿n. Health and Safety remains a prlorlty.
We ¢ontlnued to keep in touch via post arKI email. We retained Zoom as a tool for engagement and training.
We contlnu8 to support some Charitable organisations financially. PrdctiCal￿ we provide others with donations
of food dothing and baslc needs. We are always conscious of our Safeguarding duties.
The Parlsh Contlnues to grve Careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northem Ireland's guidance
on publlc benefit to ensure that the actlvities entered into during the year have helped to achieve the Parish's
objectives and activlties, as well as provkjlng public benefiL
Financial Review
The results for the year are set <)ut ￿ page 7, whith the Trustees conslder to be satisfactory.
The reserves of the Parish are held for the advantsment of its charitable purpose, other than restricted
reserves which are held for a designated purpose- see note 16.
Golng Concern
The Trustees have re￿eWed the budgets for the year ahead and are satisfied that there are adequate funds In
place to ensure that the Parish can continue its activities and the financial statements for the year end8d 31
December 2022 can be signed off as a going concem.

Structure, Govemance and Management
Governing Document and Constitution of the Chai7ty
Chapter111 of the Constitution of the Church of Ireland govems Parishes and Parochial Organisation. The Select
Vestry members are the Charity Trustees.
Recruitment and Appointment of Select Vestry (Trus¢ees)
All members of the Church of Ireland vtho are over the age of 18 who are annual subscribers of a sum not less
than £50.00 per annum and are either resident within the parish or live elsewhere but have been accustomed
members of the congregation may register as members of the General Vesty of the parish. allowing them to
attend and vote at meetings of the General Vesty and to stand for election to the Select Vesty. Meetings of the
General Vestry are held at least once a year. The Select Vesty is elected as part of this General Vestry meeting.
The Select Vestry will hold their positions for a period of one year. Seled Vestry members may be re-elected
annually and there is no limit on the number of terms which may be served.
Oryanisational Structure
The Select Vestry takes resFonsibilty forthe managing of ￿rtain activities and decision making within the parish.
The Select Vestry consists of the rnember of th8 clergy serving in the parish. any curate assistsnt ("the curate").
the ¢hur¢hwardens, the glebe wardens and generally not more than Iwefve other members of the G8n8ral Vestry
elected at the General Vesty Meeting.
The Select Vesty Is chalred by the incumbent or other member of Ihe ctergy offidatlng In th8 parlsh. S818Ct
Vesty members are responsible for making decisior￿ on matters of general concem and importance to the parish
including deciding how parlsh funds are to be applied.
The Select Vesty meets at times fixed by the members or by the diocesan synod. Speoal m8etings may ba
convened at any time by the chairperson or th8 churchwardens. In 2022 the Select Vestry met 10 times (including
2 short meetings) during the year and the average attendance was 69%.
Compliance with Publlc Benefft
The Parish has given carefvl cons5deration to the Charty Commission for Northem Iretand's guidance on public
benefrt to ensure that the activitses entered into during the year have helFed to achieve the Parish's objectivès
and activities, as well as providing wbfjc benefft.
Statement of Trustees, Responsib'ilities
The Trustees are responsible for preparing the Trustees, Report and the statement of receipts and payments and
statement of assets and liabilities in accordance with applicable law and regulation5.
The law applicable to charities in Northem Ireland with Income of less than £250,000 requires the Trustees to
prepare a statement of receipts and payments and a statement of assets arKI liabilities for each financial year.

Statement of Trustees. Responsibilities {continued}
The Trustees are responsib* for keeping accounting records that are sufficient to show and exptain the Parish's
transactions and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the assets and liabilities of the Parish. They ar8
also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Parish and hence for laking reasonabie steps for the
prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities.
