A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements in the year

Our programme is divided into different themes. ‘Theme Awards’ go towards Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards.

For ‘Skills for My Future’ theme - the girls designed robots, found the best route for a new road and learned about why rules are important when playing games. They completed an obstacle course, and taught each other dance moves.

For ‘Take Action’ – the girls retold stories from different views and adapted games to make them suitable for all. They practiced active listening and public speaking, and created newspaper headlines. They also completed the Speak Out Badge.

During the year we made pancakes with fruit, and baked chocolate chip cookies. We also tried food from around the world.

For ‘Be Well’ – the girls did First Aid, learning how to get help in an emergency, check the airway and breathing and put a casualty into the recovery position. We also got healthy with active games, including badminton.

The girls choose and ran activities. They made insect hotels, practiced First Aid ‘in the field’, and learnt how to behave around dogs. They also played Kabbadi, dressed Brownies as snowmen and played a Yes/No guessing game. For our Christmas party we decorated Gingerbread biscuits, made paper chains and completed word puzzles.

For spring we planted sunflowers and sweet pea. For St Patrick’s Day we made shamrock wreaths. Other crafts have included making ‘super symbols’ from hama beads, scratch art keyrings and sewing. We took part in the Thinking Day Service and re-made our Brownie Promise in Makaton. We also attended the Remembrance Service, and a special service for the Guides’ 90[th] Birthday.

Outings included W5, and a trip to the park with the Rainbows and Guides to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with games and activities. We also went to the cinema and Clip ‘n Climb.

We had a sleepover with a Storytelling theme. Some activities came from the ‘Express Myself’ Theme, including making up excuses for being late (the more outrageous the better!) acting games, and having a ‘Tent Theatre’. We also decorated pillow cases with favourite stories.

For our pack holiday to Lorne we stayed in ‘Robinson Village’, sleeping in cabins and cooking outdoors. Together we made a Space themed banner and our activities included the zip line, gladiator challenge and making aliens & rocket wands.

We invited the parents to see the girls receive their badges & awards. We awarded 6 Bronze and 3 Silver Awards this year, as well as our first ever Gold Award.

During all activities the needs of all the girls are taken into account, including those with special dietary requirements or additional needs. There was no harm flowing from the Charities purposes and there was no private benefit.
