The charitsble purpose of the Church of Ireland Is the advancement ot religion.
The principal fvnrtipn of the Parlsh of EglSsh is to support the advancement of the Christian reli850n by promotin&
through the work of Holy Trinity Parish Church the wh(Jle mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistlc, soclal and
ecumenlcal. Being open to and enBagin8 Wlth society 35 a whole and offering support for those needing help are
fundamental to the practical delNery of the benefits of Chrlstianlty.
As a result of actlvlty In the pursult of the advancement of the Christian religion, the Parish of Eglish ha5 Custody of
property and of records, materials and artefarts (rf significano to the cultural and religlous herltsge and malntenance of
which is undertaken by the selettvestry of the Parfsh of Egllsh.
Achlwements. Ptrforrnan￿ & Publlc Benefft
Below is a summary of the maln artlv5tles undertaken by the PaT15h to carryout tts charitable purpose5 for the publi¢
benefrt and the maln achievements dursTr8 the year. This will intludè its purposes, achlevements, beneficlaries, etc.
Trinlty Church, Egllsh Parlsh, was buitt in the downland of Drumsollan in 1821 and is set in beautiful natural grounds,
five mlles from the centre of the cty of Arniagh. Around the building Is a qultè extensive 8raveyard, with 8raves datlng
back to 18205, SÈTving the communtty, not just Church of Ireland pari5h50ner5. There are ruins of the Previous buildlng
elose to the vlllage of Artasooly, dating back to the 16th century. This site also houses anclent standlng crosses, whlch
attract attention from many historical groups. This site also hosts a pre41efomiation graveyard, with many local familv
graves being tracèd to this locat4on. The parish can trace its roots back to the fifth century, making it one of the oldest
parishes In the dlocese.
Our parfsh ts malnly njral, coverin8 a lar8e area in County Amagh. Our mission Is to explore and grow In ourfaith, Sove
and worship of God, and to extend a hand of welcome and love to others in our community. We do this through regular
public worship. community outreach, and offerirtg help and fadlÉties to the communlty.
The parlsh belongs to a group of parishe5 whith includes Clonfeacle and Derrygortreavy Parfshes.
Public Woysfilp
The congregation of HotyTrinty Church. Parish of Egllsh (known as'Drumsallan' due to its location) meets each Sunday
morning at 9.30am. The monthly worship schedule comprise5 servi￿5 of Hoty Communiort on the first and third
Sundays, and Mornlng Prayer orA SeNio of the Word on the thlrd and fourth Sundays. All service5 are for all ayes and
all are welcorne.
Gatherln8 for worship was severely dlsfupted in 2020 by Covid-19, $0 many of our seN1￿$ were recorded and posted
online ftsr parfshloners and others to avail of from their homes. Neverthele55. we were able to provide online seNices,
prayer meetings and Bible studie5, online, intluding during Lent, Holy Week and Easter, and an online Sunday school and
some Yuuth onllne events. We were glad to be able to reopen the churth and it5 Slster d)urthes in the parochlal group
on 30m September 2020. The recorded online sèmces, along wlth live onllne prayer and Bible studies and other planning
meetiri85 for parish-related thairs. invoSved the contributions of many parishioners, of all a¥es, and therewas a sense of
solidarity and mutual support between parishioners as a result.
Traditionally the parish holds an Annual Harvest Weekend on the Second wèekend in October. comprlsing a Friday
Evening PrayerseNce at 8pm, a Sunday moming Harvest Family Service at 9.30am, and a Sunday £venlng Prdyer servl
at 7pm. Thls was scaled down in the circumstances of a pandemlcto a single servlce and the Harvest Supper in the
Parish Hall that tradtfion3llytakes place after the Friday evening seTVtce did not take place for reasons of covid safety and
prevention.

The same IpandemKI circumstances meantthat. as with other thurthes attÈndan¢e at sèryotes dropped, and the
participation of our children and yOL*ng people In services such as the Natlvlty servlce December wa5 Curtailed.
Neverthele55, the parish kmilies were stlll able to contribute Benerously with gifts for the Salvation Army Christrnas
Appeal. Our annLtal sèrvlce of Nlne Lessons and Carols took pla￿ on Sunday 20th December, minus the usual tea and
refreshments in the Parlsh Hall.
We observed Lent 2020 largely onlÉrte of necèsstty, wlth a serles of pre-recorded Lenten refiethons and live online (via
Zooml meetinBS each Wednesday evenin& with Lenten refiections and Bible studie5 and services of Compline orA Late
Evenlng OfFi￿, culminating in online Holy Week 5ervice5.
At in-church Servi￿$, which resumed on 30th September 2020. we contlnue to malntsln a regular pattern of wor5hlp,
following the Revised Common LectionaryfoT service themes and readin85 and hymns appropriate to the readings and
theme for the week. Hoty Trinity Churth ha5 a well maintsined pipe organ and organlsts who share the normal
pattem of services durin8 the month. Prior to the pandemic. an Oetasional Choir comprislng enthusiastic parishioners of
all ages. contributed at Harvest and Carol setvlces, and at otherspecial services throughout the year. We hope ITr time to
be able to resume this aspect of the church and parish's life.
Ail rnernbers ofthe wider community are welcome at any or all of our servi￿. Our Churchwardens and 5teward5
welcome all attendees and visitor5 to the church at earh seNte, and visltors and any newcomers are Elven any help or
welcgme they need to feel'at home,.
Comrnunlty Outrea¢h
Each Sunday mornin8 btheen September and May, under non-pandemlc clreumstances, there Is a Sunday School during
the morning servite, from 9.30am to approxlmately 10.30am. This is held in the Parish Hall, located dirertly acr055 the
road from the Church bulldlng. The children are included in every 5er¥ice and are present either at the start of the
Se)vice of Moming Prayer. or at the end of the Holy Communion Service. Sunday school Ss open to all chlldren aged 4 to
16. whether parishioners or otheNise. Under non-pandemic csrcumstances, the senior class (ages 11-1615tudy Bible
passages each weeL based on the lertionary readings being followlng in Church that Sunday. The Sunday School children
are regula￿Y invited to 3SSlSt in servltes in appropriate ways, and occasionally perform sirnple dramas. readings or
prayers, and. agaln, under non-pandemic circumStsn￿, sing at the Christmas Nativfty servlce. They also participate In
the annual Children'5 Day and Pri2e8iving service In May. In 2020 thls seryice was took the form o* 3 Simple pre-recorded
5ervite which was publlshed online.
Since the onset of the pandemic. all familie5 in the parish, and others who havè responded to the offer, are provided
weekty with Bible teachin8 re50ur¢es via email or by post as requested. Thls outreach ministry Is continuin8 even after
the churche5 have reopened for In-church WOTship.
The grouped parlshes have a Youth Fellowshlp called Tlme Ouy which prfor to the first covld lockdown met monthly In
either EglishlDrumsallan Parish Hall or Clonfeaclel8enburb Parish Hall, usually on a Sunday evenin& for games, crafts,
soual time, the learning of bowls as a sportlgame. Bible teachin& music and food. Funds were ratsed bythe three
parishes via a'cash-for-clobberf clothes-donation effort to provide the young people with a hoodie embossed wth
Special￿-desIgned Time Out logo. Completion of thls project is to be completed and it is our hope to re5urrert this Time
Out youth mlnistry In the year ahead.
Prfor to the disruption caused by Covld-19, the Mother< Union met on the third Tve5day evening of ea¢h month. Invltlng
speakers to come and speak andlor demonstrate a subjert of their choice. MU 15 operi to evèryone- men and women-
and regularfy holds *isitor evenings" tg encourage a wlder community involvemenL
Prior to the disruption caused by Covid-19. a weekly Bowls Club met in the Parish Hall, or occasionally travelled to other
venyes for matches. tt Is also open to all, and has members from 16- 80 years old. They host local competitions within
the cl¢Jb, and compete as part of the local Bo￿$ League. A Badmlnton Club has met on a Monday evening for rnany
vears. Again, all local people are encouraged to attend. and 3re welcome. Again, it is our hope to resuirect these soclal
groups and clubs as we dre able.

Prlor tothe disruption caused by Covi¢P19, the Parish Hall was also made available to the community forvarious infoTmal
uses, such as the h05ting of birthday celebrations, fundrai5ingtable qulzies, and for several function5forthe local
Women's Institute. The Hall was also available forteas following funerals. weddings, etc.
Public Benefft
The charitsble purpose of Qlish ParSsh Is the advan￿ment of religlon. Thls Is achleved through Christian witrte￿ and
OUt￿aCh, and delivered throu6h the provision of public worship and our ongoing outreach programme as described
above.

The Parish Intome for the year was £37,862 wlth outgolngs ot £38,560 re5uttin8 in a deficit of £698. The maln sources of
Income are from our free will offerlng donations.
The Tru5tee'5 Pollcy on holding reseTves is to retaln surplus unrestricted fvr￿s for aFry unexpected malor maintenance

The trustees have reviewed the budgÈt5 for the year ahead and are Satisfied that there are adequate funds in place tg

Chaptsr 111 of the Constltution of the Churth of Ireland 8ovem5 Parishes and Parothlal Organlsation. The Selert Vestry
members are the Charity Trustees
Recruftment and Appolntsnent of Selectvestry (Tru#ees)
All members of the Church of Ireland who ère over the agÈ of 18 and are elther resident withlft the parfsh or ljve
elsewhere but have been accustomed members of the congregatlon for at least three months, may reglster as members
of the Neneral vestry of the parish, allowing them to attend and vote at mÈetlngs of the general vestry and to stand for
electlon to the select vestry. Meetings of the general vestry are held at least once a year. The Sele¢t Vestry is elected as
part of this Genèral Vestry meeting. The Seltct Vestry wlll hold their position5 for a period of one year. Select Vestry
members may be re-elected annualfy and there is no limit on the number of terms whlch may be Served.
Payand remuneratlon
Revd Cou5in$ serves the aonfeacle, Derry8Ortreavy and Eglish Group of Parishes where she Is pald a stlpend, locomotory
allowance and expenses of office, in accordanee with figures approved by the General Synod of the Church of Ireland.
The proportion paid by Eglish Is by way of a5se$5rnent through the Dlocese of Arnia8h.
Orgonlsatlonal Structure
The select vèstry Is responsible for the day to day management of the parrsh. The select vestry consists of the mèmber
of the clergy servlng In the parlsh, the churchwardens. the glebe wardens and genetslly not more than ￿e1ve other
members of the 8eneral vestry elected at the General Vèstry.

The sèlect vesty is chaired by the Incumbent or other member of the dergy officiatin8 in the parish. Selert vesrry
members are reSPOAsible for maklng decisions on matters of general con￿rn and importance to the parlsh Includlng
decidin8 how parish funds are to be applied.
The selett vesty meets at times fixed by the members or by the diDce5an synod. Speclal meetlngs may be convened at
any time by the chalrperson or the ¢hurchwardens. In 2020 the Selert v￿ry met 8 times durin8 the year and the
vèrage attendatt￿ was 75%.
Compllance wlth Publk Ben•fft
The parish has glven careful considetstion to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guldance on public benefit to
ensure that the activities entered Énto during the year have hÈlpèd to achieve the Parish's objectives and actlvlties, as
well as providin8 publi¢ beneflt.
Statement of Trustee's Re5pon51blllUes
The trustee's are responslble for preparin8 the Tnjstee's Report and the statement of recelpts and payments and
5tsternent of assets and Ilabilities in accordance with app5icable low 3nd regulations.
The law applicable to charftles in Northern Irelartd w￿h Sncome of less than £250,0￿ requlres the twstees to prepare a
statement of recelpts and payments and a ststement of 35sets and lièbllttles for each flnancial year.
The tTU5tees are responsible for keeping accounting records that are sufficlent to show and explain the Parish's
trnnsactlons and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the assets and liabilities of the Parish. They are also
sponsibie for safeguardlng the assets of the Parish and hence for tskin8 reasonable #eps for the prevention and
detection of fraud and other irregulaTitie5.
