Egllsh Parlsh. was bullt In the downland of Drnmsallan in 1821 and is set in beautiful natural grounds. five miles from the centre of the city of Amiagh. Around the building Is a qulte extensive graveyard, with 8rave5 datlng baek to 1820s. serving the communrty. not just Churth of Ireland parishioners. There are ruins of the previou5 buildin8 close to the village of Artasooly, datin8 back to the 16th century. Thls slte also houses ancient standing crosses, whlch attrart attention from many hist¢fi¢al groups. This sits also hosts a pre-Reformation 8raveyard, with many local family graves being traced to this Iratlon. The parssh can trace its roots backto the fifth centuryi making rt one of the oldest parishes in the diocese. Our parish 15 mainly rural, coverin8 a large area in County Arma8h. Our mission is to explore and Brow In our falth, love and worship of God. and to extend a hand of weltome and love to others in OEEr communty. We do this through regular public worship, community outreach. and offerin8 help and facilities to the comrnunity. The parish belon8S to a 8roup of parishe5 which indudes Clonfeacle and Derry8Ortreavy Parishes. Pubtl¢ Worshlp The con8re8ation of Holy Trinity Church, Parish of Egli5h (known as'Drumsallan' due to its location) meets each Sltnflay morning at 9.30am. The mortthly worship schedule comprises services of Holy Communion on the first and thiTd Sunday5, and Mornin8 Prayer or A servi ofthe Word on the third and fourth Sundays. All servlces are for all ages and all are wèlcome. Gatherlng forworshlp was severely diswpted in 2020 by Covid-19, so many of our servlces were recorded and posted online for parishioners and others to avail of from their hornes. Nevertheless, we were able to provide onllne services. prayer meetings and Bible studies, online, intluding during Lent, Holy Week and Easter, and an online Sunday School and some Youth online events. We were glad to be able to reopen the church and Its sister churches In the parochlal group on September 2020. The re¢orded online 5trvices, along with live online prayer and Bible 5tudie5 and other plannlng meetings for parish-relatèd affairs. Involved the eontributlons of many parishioners, of 311 a8ès, and there wa5 a sense of solidartty and mutual support between parlshloners as a result. Traditlonally the parish holds an Annual HaNest Weekend on the second weekend in October. tomprising a Fridav Evening Prayer 5eNFce at 8pm. a Sunday moming HaNe5t Fafnily Servlce at 9.30am, and a Sunday Evening Pr3yer service at 7pm. This was scaled down in the circun75tances of a pandemic to a single seryice and the Harvest Supper In the Parish Hall that traditionalty takes place afterthe Friday èvening service did nottske place for reasons of covid safety and prevention.

Nevertheless, the parish kmil>es were still able to contribute generously with 8Fft5 forthe Salvation Army Christma5 Appeal. Our annual servlce of Nine Lessons and Cafois took place on Sunday December, minus the usual tea and refreshments In the Parfsh Hall. We observed Lent 2020 largely online of necessity, with a 5erÈes of prtrrecorded Lenten refiectiorts and live online (via Zoom) meetings each Wednèsday evenin& wrth Lenten reflectlons and Blblè Studies and serviw of Compline orA Late Evèning OfFice, culminating in online Holy Week services. At in-church serv1, whlch resumed on 30th September 2020. we continue to maintsin a regular pattem of worshrp. foloWIng the Rwsed Common Lectionaryfor service themè5 and readings and hymns appropriate to the readings and theme for the week. Holy Trinity Church has a well maintslned plpe organ and organists who share the normal pattern of servi$ during the month. Priorto the pandemic, an Occaslonal Choir tompri5ing enthuslastic parishioners of all ages. contributed at Harvest and Carol services. arbd at other special setv15 throughout the year. We hope in tlme ttj be able to resLtme this aspect of the church and parlsh's Ilfe. All members of the wider communlty are welcome at any or all of our servlces. Our Chur¢hwarden5 and stewards welcome all attendee$ 3nd visitorsto the church at each semce, and visitors and any newcomers are gÈven any help or welcome they need to feel'at home,. Communlty Outr•ach Each Sunday moming between September and May, under non-pandemic arcumstances, there is a Sunday School durSng the morning Servi, from 9.30am to approxirnately 10.30am. Thls Is held in the Parish Hall. located dlrectty across the road from the Church buildin8. The chIldn are included in everyseNice and are present either at the stsrt of the Service of Mornlng Prayer, or at the end of the Holy Communion SeNice. sunday school is open to all thildren aged 4 to 16, whether parishioners or otherwise. Under non-pandemic Circumstan$, the seniortlass Izges 11-161 study Bible Passages each week, based on thè lettionary readings being followlng in Church that Sunday. The Sunday 5¢hool children are regularly invited to a5S15t in services in appropriate way5, and occasionally perform simple dramas. readings or prayers. and, agaln, under noft-pandernic circurnstances, slng at the Christmas Nativty servlce. They also parti¢5Pate in the annual Children'5 Day and Prizegfving service in May. In 2020 this Servi was tookthe form of a simple pre-recorded servlce whlch was published online. Since the onset of thè pandemic. all familles in the parlsh. and otFLers who have responded to the offer, are provided weekly with Bible teaching resour¢es via email or by post as requested. This outreach ministry Is contlnuing even after the thurche5 have reopened fof In-church worship. The grouped parishes have a Youth Fellowshlp called Time OUY which prior to the flrst covid lockdown met monthly In elther Eglish/Drumsallan Parish Hall or ClonfeaclelBenburb Parish Hall, usually on a Sunday evening, for games, crafts. social time, the learning of bob$ as a sportlgame. Bible teachln& music and food. CompSetion of this projert is to be completed and it is our hope to resurrect this Mme Out youth minf5try ifi the year ahead. Prior to the disruption caused by Covid-19. 3 weekly Bowls Club met In the Parish Hall, or occasionally travelled to other venues for matche5. It Is also open to all, and has members from 16- 80 years old. They host local competitions within the club, and compete as part of the local Bowls League. A Badmlnton Club has met on a Monday eveningfor many years. Again. all local people are encouraged to attend, and are welcoTne. Agaln, It Is our hopeto resurrect these 50dal 8roups and clubs as we are able.
