young women, in order to help them develop emotionally, mentally, physlcally and splritualty, so
that they can make 8 Posltive contribution to their community and the wider world and develop
their full potential. The wider benefit to the community at large is enhanced social education and
responsible citizenshlp that flows from the purpose.
The charity's beneficiaries are the girls who join Girlguiding and attend the weekly meetings,
where activitles are carried out in order to achieve the objectives of 1st Caryduff Guides and
Girlguiding Ulster. We are a girl-led charity and take direction from the ever-evolving needs of
our members. The young people attending the meetings are actively involved in shaping their
own programme, and the benefit is increased confidence, new skills including leadership skills,
and working as a team.
During the charity's weekly meetings, activities are carried out, chosen by the leader and
approved by the glrfs. A balance is struck for these activities so that they meet the five
essentials of Girlguiding: working together in small groups, encouraging self-govemment and
decision making, a balanced and varied programme, caring for the individual, and sharing a
commitment to a common standard.
In July 20231 opened a new Guiding bank account for the upcoming year as last year there was
a hiatus with no Guides moving up from the Brownie Unit. We are however building back up
again with one Guide joining us and more to join in the next financial year.
There is no harm flowing from the purpose of 1st Caryduff Guides.
Membership of 1st Caryduff Guides is open to girls in Northem Ireland aged 10-14 from all
sections of society, according to Girlguiding Ulsterfs informal education programme which runs
from ages 4 to 25.
There is no private benefit from our charity.
In setting our objectives and planning our activities for the year, the trustees (Jennrfer Fleming
and Fiona Ellis) have given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northem
Ireland's guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities have helped to achieve the
charity's purposes and provide a benefit to the beneficiaries.
