## ’ – Ballyvester PTA Chairperson s Report

During the school year 2019/20 the committee decided to focus on a smaller number of events which would generate income, so as to reduce the pressure on requesting funds and support from parents repeatedly throughout the year. We have learned from experience that the most successful events were completed in school time and that sponsored events tended to generate the most interest and funds.

The main event of the year was a sponsored pancake day, held within school time. This generated an amazing £929.66 for PTA funds, and the children enjoyed the range of pancake themed activities and fun held in each classroom.

In addition to this, a movie day in school generated £305.17 and the tremendously well received brown money challenge generated £472.69. We were very grateful to Santander for their support in the form of £1500, and in particular to the parent member of Santander staff who nominated our organisation for support.

Unfortunately we were unable to arrange events for term 3 due to the pandemic, but children were all provided with an Easter egg when finishing school in March, supported by PTA funds. Children had also received the usual Christmas presents with the traditional Santa visit with the help of PTA. Our expenditure on these items totalled £203.52.

As usual this year PTA were pleased to support the school through the provision of the Accelerated reading scheme, additional Kindles for use in school with the reading scheme and much anticipated playground markings. We had a profitable year with reduced expenses on income generation. As a result, in total we were pleased to be able to contribute £4,513.98 to school for these valuable assets which all children will benefit from.

Thanks are due to all of the members of the PTA committee for their support and attendance at meetings during the year, to the teachers who facilitated events during school time and to the families who supported events to generate income for all of our children to benefit from.

The closing balance of £4454.60 represents a healthy position with which to start the 2020/21 year.
