KILLYLEA PRIMARY SCHOOL Parent Support Group Chair Report 2017-18

Thank you all for attending our AGM and a special welcome to any new parents. I would like to present a report on the past year 2017-18.

We were delighted to support the teaching and learning of the pupils in the school by purchasing £1000 of Maths resources for Measure. This was well publicised so that parents knew where our fundraising money was being spent and that their children were getting the benefit.

We looked for some new activities this year to engage our local community. Our first event[s] was Zumba which was held on three occasions and raised a total of £170.11. Although this is not a huge amount the events encouraged members of our local and wider community into our school.

A Christmas Fireside issued in November quiz raised £121 for minimal effort. Also in November we worked alongside St Mark’s Church vestry for a joint venture – Can’t Cook, Wont Cook. We are indebted to Joy Rollston who did a fantastic job in organising and hosting the event. The event raised £467 with £195 going to St Marks. It was agreed that the raffle total would come to the school as the PTA had arranged it.

In February, we organised a Pink and Red disco for the children which was well supported and raised £120. We are grateful to Mr Lowry for providing the enterainment.

In March we held a new and very successful event, our Pamper Night. This was very well attended and raised many positive comments – definitely an event for the future! The total raised was £529.

An Easter Quiz raised £114.

Our community sports night raised a profit of £415.92 and again was a successful event for getting support from parents and the local community. Pupils sold the remaining tuck shop items and raised a further £52.11.

I would like to thank the outgoing committee for all their hard work, dedication and support over the last year and remind parents that we rely on their support to help and come along to events for the benefit for the school and ultimately their children.

Thank you.

Leana Bruce, Chair
