In this report the trustees of Friends of St Teresa's (Lurgan) present a summary of its purpose. governance. activities, achievements and finances for the financial year ended 30"June 2024. The charity is a registered charity and hence the report and results are presented in a form which complies with the requirements of the Charities Act (Nl) 2013. Overview of the charity Friends of St Teresa's (Lurgan) is a small charity, established in 2015. We are an active PTA which organises social fundraising events for the families and children of the school. We also activelyvoLunteerforthe school reguLarLy, such as helping at the school sports day, annuaL bookfair, refreshments for confirmation and first communion and organising and volunteering at the events held each yearto assist with fundraising throughout the school. We wilL also help with any other events or matters that support the school and the families of the pupiLs within the school. Structure. Governance and Management Friends of St Teresa's {Lurgan) is an unincorporated association and is governed bya constitution adopted in September2015. The charity is run and managed by the trustees with assistance given from other committee members and the wider schooL communitywhen running events. The trustees and members meet formally at least once everythree months. At each meetingthe financial position is reviewed. Spending is discussed and approved. Officers may authorise some expenditure between meetings ensuring that such spending is reported at the next meeting. ALI payments are made by cheque and must be signed by two of the designated signatories for Friends of St Teresa's (Lurgan). The meetings aLso provide a forum to review recent activities and to plan forthcoming events. There is however additional ad hoc meetings convened to plan and prepare for fundraising events.
Public Benefit Statement The key public benefits of the charity are as folLows: Purpose l.. Improved relationships between home and school. The benefitwhich flows from this purpose incLudes fundingfor additional resources for the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through having an active PTA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not Lead to harm. The benefit is for children at St Teresa's Primary School Lurgan. Charitytrustees (PTA committee members) are usualLy also parents atthe school which their chiLdren attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2.. Advancing the education of pupils in the school The benefitwhich flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupiLs in the school and Links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local communitywhich are not available through direct schooLfunding. This purpose does not Lead to harm. The benefit is for children at StTeresa's Primary School Lurgan. Charitytrustees (PTA committee members) are usually also parents at the school which their children attend and hence gain benefit in the same way as aLL other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Review of Activities, Achievements and Performance Total income for the yearwas £8,313, this included donations from individuals. donations from EasyFundraising, bank interest received and money raised from fundraising events. Fundraising events heLd throughout the school year included a Pumpkin Patch, Christmas Fayre and Raffle, Glo Disco, Ceili and the end of year Party on the Pitch. Total income from these fundraising activities was £7,901. The costs for runningthese activities totalled £2,669. The events were well attended and enjoyed by pupils, parents and the wider community. Total payments made in the year totalled £12,922. £9,837 of this was donations to the school or purchasing gifts forthe pupils. The charitywas able to donate £6,670 to the school to purchase ten new laptops. Other donations and gifts to the school included a Christmas and Easter giftfor each pupil, gifts forthe P7 Leavers, replenishing stationery and other classroom supplies, helping fund the school counseLlor and an ice cream van visit forthe pupils and staff. The results forthe financialyear are set out in the financial statements.
In review of the finances and assets of Friends of St Teresa's (Lurgan), it must be noted that many members and trustees give a great deal of support in kind. Many purchases are made and paid for by members such as prizes for raffles. snacks forfunctions and decorative accessories for events and the cost not claimed despite such a claim being perfectLy legitimate. Members also give generousLy of theirtime in the planning, preparation, and delivery of events and in the business of running the charitywithout which itwould not exist. The Chairperson and Trustees wish to place on record their recognition and gratitude for these contributions. Results At the end of the financial year the charity has assets of £4,752 and no liabilities. The net assets of the charity have decreased by £4,758 since 30th June 2023.
