## **STRANDTOWN PRIMARY SCHOOL PTA AGM**

29th September 2023 ANNUAL REPORT – 2022 / 2023

School year 2022 / 23 - Post Covid

Firstly, a massive thanks, and a huge congratulations to everyone involved in the previous year of the PTA. Thanks to Gerry, Wendy, ALL of the teaching staff, the volunteers, and to the core members of the committee, that took on a momentous task, which seemed like a struggle and a full time job at times.

I feel that we delivered a lot of great experiences for the pupils, hopefully creating some lasting memories for their year at Strandtown.

In November 2022 we had a meeting to restart the PTA. It was the mammoth task of trying to resume the PTA after 3 years of the pandemic break, exaggerated by the fact that all of the previous members had moved on from the school. Roisin Maloney was incredibly helpful with time, resources, and information to kick start the process, for which we are very grateful.

We began by putting in place the relevant positions of Chair person, Deputy Chair person, Secretary, and Treasurer, as this was a formality required for the Charity Commission. It was incredibly difficult, and a huge task to work through the bureaucracy of getting the PTA as a charity up and running again. We managed it though, through many, many hours of effort.

The main agenda was to create a list of achievable events, coordinating with the teaching staff, and the workings of the school calendar.

The PTA put in place events that the pupils would hopefully enjoy, with the aim of raising some much needed funds for the school, and starting to rekindle a positive interaction with parents and the school environment.

We provided: Meet and greet for the P4 concert taking names of potential volunteers Disco tuck shop Wacky hair day Easter egg raffle Donut day Summer BBQ, with an inflatable extravaganza

The Treasurer shall provide accounts on the money raised, and how the funds were used.

The important thing is to acknowledge the experience and enjoyment of the pupils, and the ease of which these events fitted in with the daily routine and management of daily school day and curricular calendar.

The only disappointment is that we missed some great opportunities to create more events such as at Halloween, Christmas, or events for parents, which we hope will be captured in the coming school year.

Again, the PTA would like to acknowledge and thank the efforts of all the staff members of the school, the volunteers that made these events happen, and most importantly the parents for supporting the events. With your support the kids have such wonderful memories of Strandtown, and we hope that you felt engaged and have good memories too.

Thank you for your ongoing support and if you can help in any way, with time, talent, or ideas, please get in contact at “strandtownpta@gmail.com"

Many Thanks, Gareth Nixon Chairman 2022 / 23
