Commission’s Public benefit requirement:
As we are registered as a charity by the NI Charity Commission, we are required to have regard for the public benefit requirement as defined in the Charities Act and also to take into account that the purpose of our Association must be for that public benefit to be charitable.
We as charity trustees must know and be able to identify the purposes of our charity and we must have regard to statutory guidance produced by the Commission when exercising powers or duties related to the guidance.
Our public benefits are
1: to foster and extend relationships between home and school
The public benefit which flows from this is to have an active parents association that works in partnership with the school, engages parental support and builds links with the local community. The benefit is for the children/pupils and families of pupils at Limavady Grammar School. This does not lead to harm.
The benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all the beneficiaries
2: to advance the education of pupils in the school by engaging in activities which support the school.
The public benefit which flows from this is increased educational progress.
This is demonstrated by having additional resources, events, activities and links with the local community which are not available through direct school funding.
The benefit is for the children / pupils and families of pupils at Limavady Grammar School. This does not lead to harm.
The governing document/constitution:
Our constitution was adopted at the AGM on 21st January 2020.
The purpose of Limavady Grammar Association is to advance the education of the pupils of Limavady Grammar school by providing or assisting in the provision of educational facilities at the school and ancillary to this and in furtherance of this objective, the association may
-foster more extended relationships between staff, parents and others who befriend the school and -engage in activities which support the school and advance the education of the pupils attending it.

The Limavady Grammar School Parents Association organised a number of events this year to raise funds and to promote the School Community. Events this year included the Year 8 Social, Tuck shops at the School Musical, Sports Day and Band Night and two draws.
Expenditure to support the school this year as set out in the accounts included donations for school rewards, Prize Day awards, as well as donations to the Art Department, Dungeons and Dragons Club,the Drama Department and the Library. Donations were seen to benefit a wide range of pupils within the school.
The Association continues to operate a bank account with Danske Bank and operate within good governance standards.
