Longstone Parent/Staff Association- NIC104228 The Trustees, Annual Report and Public Benefit Reporting 'ONicEf ' Public benefits Purpose l.. Improved relationships between home and School. The benefit which flow5 from this purpose include£ funding for addilional resources for the school and links built with the local community. Thi5 is demonstrated through having an active PSA that works in partnership with the school and engages parental support. This purpose does not lead to harm. The benefit is for children at Longstone Special School Dundonald. Charity trustees (PSA committee member.q) are usually also parents at the school which their children allend 01- have attended and hence gain benefst in the same way as all other beneficiaries. This benefit is incidental and necessary to ensure the benefit is provided to all beneficiaries. Purpose 2.. Advancing the education of pupils in the school. The benefit which flows from this purpose includes increased educational progress and attainment of pupi15 in the school and links built with the local community. This is demonstrated through pupils having access to resources, events, activities and links with the local comtnunity which are not available through direct school funding. We are an active Parent/Staff Association which organises social fundraising events for the families and children of the school and we actively volunteer for the school regularly such as., helping at school sports day. annual book fair, refreshments at Christmas performance, leavers day and carol service, organising and volunteering at the regular events held each year to assist with social fundraising throughout the school, together with any other events or matter5 to which we can support the school and the families of the pupils with in the school. Private Benefit No one has received private benefit. Statetnent of Compliance In setling our objectives and planning our activities for the year the trustees have given carelul considei-ation to the Charity Commission for Noi-thern Ireland's guidance on public benefit. ObjectSves and Activities. The objective of Longstone PSA is to advance the education of pupils in the School, in particular by developing effective relationships between staff, parents and others associated with the school and engaging in activities or supporting the school to provide facilities or equipment which advances the education of the pupils. As a school and indeed a Parent Staff Association we are slowly returning to pre pandemic fundraising. We did run a car boot sale towards the end of the school year and the money raised at this event was lodged in the next financial period IIO110120221. This year we did support a lot of school initiatives for our pupils including new reading books, outdoor furniture, the surface for our new numeracy garden, team teach bean bags and a celebration day for our whole school when our Vice-Principal was awarded an MBE.
