Trustees Report for the Annual General meeting of the Parents Friends and Staff Association
of Castle Tower School
For year January 2023 to December 2023
Presented on Tuesday 8 October 2024 at AGM
The Association was set up in October 2008. All parents and friends of current and past pupils have the opportunity to take part in the Association. In December 2009 we became an official Charity.
Our last AGM was held on 23 June 2023 in Castle Tower School.
All minutes and Reports were read out and passed.
All office positions were duly elected.
Round up of the year
The 2022 Christmas Card design was completed in school, raising valuable funds for PFSA.
Three Amazon Smile donations were received, although this ceased in May.
In January we organized and ran an Information Evening. We invited various groups and organizations. Unfortunately, due to bad weather, turnout was low, but feedback provided positive results in networking and communication.
We held a Spring raffle with twenty-five prizes to raise vital funds.
Ballymena Churches Indoor Bowling Association contacted us with a cheque donation
Summer Fair proved to be a huge success. An outdoor event this year. Was really well attended with great feedback from everyone.
As some of Post 16 pupil were transferred to Ballee Campus, we had a big fund-raising push to purchase another mini bus. Companies were contacted and in return for a donation their logo was added to the side of the bus and we promoted their company via social media. This venture was carried on into 2024, where we hope to have enough funds to buy a mini bus.
We had 3 raffle tables at Wrights family fun day. Unfortunately, due to bad weather the turnout was not as expected, but we still managed to raise some valuable funds.
In October we organized a Colour Run with the help of Ballymena Runners and Galgorm Resort & Spa. This proved to be exceptionally well attended. The weather was dull cold and rainy, but everyone had a fabulous time.
A car boot sale was organized but due to unforeseen circumstances this was cancelled. We hope to reschedule this in 2024.
Due to our endeavour fundraising for a mini bus and a shortage of planning time, we did not hold our annual Christmas Market in 2023.
In 2023 some of the ways we helped school were:

make a financial donation to summer scheme;

paid for DJ at Senior Formal;

paid for end of year trips to Portrush;

made a financial donation for Nico, our therapy dog.

Finally, I would just like to thank everyone, who has helped in any way, or supported the Association over the past year. We are always looking for more volunteers, so if you have any fund-raising ideas, or could spare a few hours to help us, please feel free to speak to any of the PFSA Committee members.
