FINANCIAL REVIEW

Income for the year was £10500.39. Expenses totalled £6752.48. Our final bank balance was £4275.20. The dramatic increase in income was due to the Education Authority Grant we received, of £3000. We were unable to spend all of it during the Grant window, and the refund will be displayed in the following years accounts.

Our Group has grown back to its pre-Covid membership numbers, currently at 90 Young People.

The Squirrels have become an official member section of the Scout Association and the separate account was closed and the funds were transferred to the 51[st] Scout Group account.

They took part in the Feel Good, Exciting Experiments, Go Wild and Super Chef activity badges. The section also received a visit from the Guide Dogs for the Blind. As well as the older sections, they were able to take part in the Ardnavally walk which raised about £500 across the Group.

2 of the Scout Leaders ran the Belfast Marathon as a fundraiser for our Group and raised over £400. Since it was also the year of the Queens Jubilee, we held an end of year BBQ for the whole Group, including parents to join. There were also badges produced for the Kings Coronation. One of the Explorer Scouts was even selected to attend the Kings Coronation!

The Scout Summer camp was to Crawfordsburn Scout Centre and involved green field camping and day hikes to the Ulster Folk and Transport museum, as well as several activity sessions on site.

One of our Explorer Scouts was given the opportunity to attend the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea, being the first from our Group to ever do so! Despite the terrible weather and bad publicity, she reported that it was a fantastic experience!

The Explorer numbers have shot up and currently stands at the most members of the Explorer section that we’ve ever had. The International and Athletics badges have been the focus.
