The Group is managed by the Group Executive Committee, the
members of which are the 'Charity Trustees, of the Scout Group
hich is an educational charty. As charity trustees they a
ponsible for complying wth legislabon applicable to charibes.
This includes the registration. keeping proper accounts and nBking
retums to the Chanty Commission as appropriate.
The Committee consists of 3 independent representstsves. namely,
Chair, Treasurer and Secretary together with the Group Scout
Leaders. individual section leaders and parent's representation and
meets every 4 ff#)nths.

This Group Executive Commtttee exists to support the Group Scout

Risk and Internal Control
The Group Executive Committee has Klent5fied the major risks to
they believe the Gn)up is exposed. these have been reviewed
and systems have been established to mrtigate against them. The
main areas of concern that have b￿n idenbfied are".
Injury to leadern. helpers. supporter6 and membern. The Group
through the Caprtat￿n fees contributes to the Scout Associats'on's
natronal accident insurance policy. Risk Assessments are undertaken
before all activities.
Reduction or loss of l&ider4. The Group is totally reliant upon
olunteers to run and administer the activities of the Group. If there
as a reduction in the number of leaders to an unacceptable Sevel in
a particular section or the Group as a whole then there would have to
be a contraction. consolidatton or closure of a section. In the worst
case scenario Ihe complete closure of the Group.
Reduction or loss of members. The Group provides activities for all
young people aged 6 to 18. If the￿ was a reduction in membership in
a particular section or the Group as whole then there would have to
be a contracb'on. consolidalion or dosure of a section. In the worst
case ￿nariO the complele dosure of the Group.

The Group applied to the Education Authority for non-genericlnon
tsrgeted grant for Boy Scouts. The Scout leader applies for
funding on behalf of the Group and EA retum forms to be signed
off by Treasurer and chairper￿￿. The sponsor applies for EA
and Belfast Crty council grants that addrtionally support the other
sections.

Achievements and performance
Summary of the main achIeveff￿nts of
the charity during the year
e Group can claim a wide variety of achievements as a direct
u￿orking of the Scouting programme across the 7 sects'ons.
xamples include:
Attainment of a wide selects'on of badges, including running a
Duke of Edinburgh Award Silver and Gold expediti.on for 22
young people in August 2023.
Delivery of camp skills, sponsor walks, sporteering, athletics,
games, sports toumaments, arts and craft sessions, wide
games, tent pitching, off site trips and canoeing across the 7
sections.
Progression of members to higher sections within the Group
and attracting new members from within the community wrth
over 300 young people across the sections.
Over 80 at resKlenb'al camps throughout the year locally in
Crawfordsbum and in the Lake District for Boy Scout summer
camp.

All funds ale unrestricted. Account codes are used to infomially
