A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements in the year
In consultation with the brownies, we started the year by planning exciting and educational activities, including learning road safety, listening to elders, value for money the difference between essentials and wants and the night sky.
We celebrated World Thinking Day in February, exploring different cultures and customs, made crafts for Mother’s Day & Easter, and learnt about self-belief.
In the summer we had more outdoor activities including the Annual Lorne Walk and raise funds for Lorne Training Centre, Dunluce Guide Hall and our unit.
Nearly sixty Rainbows, Brownies, Guides & Rangers celebrated the King’s Coronation with a themed party at which they all dressed up in their finery, played themed games, renewed their Promise with the new version and sang the amended version of the National Anthem. We enjoyed an extra trip to the cinema to see ‘Matilda’ along with members form all over the UK.
In the autumn our unit increased in number, and we now have 4 sixes. We made crafts for our Guides and Rangers table at Broughshane Christmas Market. We learnt how to make and light fires, continued our programme and earned lots of badges. We finished the year with a trip to the cinema to see “Wish” as part of a nationwide Girlguiding event and had a Christmas Jumper Party.
These activities have taught the girls how to work as a team, learn more about each other and develop personal qualities.
Twenty four Brownies and two Young Leaders from the Ranger Unit participated this year.
There was no harm flowing from the Charities purposes and there was no private benefit .
