AGM 2023

REPORT OF THE CHAIRPERSON – ANDREA McCOMB

The UMT acknowledge the tremendous effort that has been made in the last year by the Commanding Officer and our small team of volunteers. They are truly committed to providing the best possible cadet experience.

The Junior Section continues to be successful and it is great to see that they are encouraged to get involved with as many activities as possible including days out and boating days. They have been assigned the bottom portacabin classroom and are making full use of the facilities and it is good to see their work on display. The Senior Cadets are eager to take advantage of the opportunities available to them having attended onshore and offshore courses and represented Northern Ireland District at a number of competitions. They show great pride in the unit and are very supportive of their fellow cadets.

Refurbishment of the unit has continued and we maintain a safe, compliant building, making sure that all our services and certifications are routinely inspected and any works that are required are carried out in a timely manner.

We are very thankful to the following funders for their support during the last year:

Belfast Harbour Community Awards The Hedley Foundation
Ulster Garden Villages Assets Recovery Community Scheme
National Lottery Awards for All NI Tesco Blue Tokens – Groundwork UK
The Arnold Clark Community Fund Asda Foundation
Victoria Homes Trust Portballintrae Heritage Society
Halifax Foundation NI Education Authority NI

This year our facilities at the Sea Cadet Hall have been used by various community organisations and local churches.
