Our guide unit is busy as always, full of enthusiastic young girls who are starting their journey in life as young women. The girls are enjoying working towards skills builders badges and we still offer great trips away to challenge the girls in the out of doors.
We have enjoyed trips away, visitors to guides including drumming, soap making and weekends away. We look after a flowerbed at the end of the old cullybackey road and enjoy this partnership with CCP. We look forward to developing this this year, continuing to work with Cullybackey Community Partnership.
We have received grant funding for equipment from Mid & East Antrim Borough Council, DAERA and the Clear Project, which greatly helps us fund the huge range of activities within Girlguiding. We have obtained various pieces of equipment and had workshops funded which helps us offer a more varied programme at affordable rates.
Our membership is currently 17 girls. Our leadership team has grown this year with a parent helper rota, which has helped in leading guides immensely. The door is always open to new volunteers in whatever capacity you can help – be that accounts, gift aid, admin, or helping on a rota once a month.
We look forward to the summer term, bringing brighter nights and hopefully warmer evenings to embark on our ‘Have Adventures’ theme. We are looking forward to Summer Jam bringing some girls their first camping experience.
5 of our girls are attending International Selection this year and we are hopeful that they will embark on an international adventure soon.
