STRUCTURE -GOVERNANCE-MANAGEMENT

1[st ] Magheraculmoney Scout Group's governing documents are those of the The Scout Association. They consist of a Royal Charter, which in turn gives authority to the Bye Laws of the Association and The Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.

1[st ] Magheraculmoney Scout Group is a trust established under its rules which are common to all Scouts.

The Trustees are appointed in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.

The Group is managed by the Group Executive Committee, the members of which are the 'Charity Trustees' of the Scout Group which is an educational charity. As charity trustees they are responsible for complying with legislation applicable to charities. This includes the registration, keeping proper accounts and making returns to the Charity Commission as appropriate.

PURPOSES OF THE CHARITY

Promoting the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of the local, national and international communities.

PUBLIC AND PRIVATE BENEFIT OF OUR CHARITY

The Group meets the Charity Commission's public Benefit criteria under both the advancement of education and the advancement of citizenship or community development headings.

THE SCOUT METHOD

Scouting takes place when young people, in partnership with Adults, work together based on the values of Scouting and: Enjoy what activities they are doing and have fun Learning by doing Take part in activities indoors and outdoors Share in spiritual reflection

Take responsibility and make choices Undertake new and challenging activities Make and live up to their Scout Promise.

Outdoor activities, including camps, character building games, visits to local places of interest, indoor activities including learning about other cultures and countries, making things. Badge work, helping in community etc.

FINANCES

The finances of the Group are closely monitored on a regular basis. Current funds are held with Danske Bank. Fundraising along with increased grant from Education Authority โ€“Youth Department ensured the group finances continue remain in a satisfactory position

MEMBERSHIP

As at the 31st March 2024 our membership is 49 a reduction on previous year due to local sporting commitments by former members

LEADERSHIP.

The leadership team has remained faithful despite increasing family responsibilities . Assistance from young leaders continues to be invaluable.

PROGRAMME

The three Sections BEAVERS- CUB SCOUTS-SCOUTS have all been participating in a wide range of activities throughout the year. This past year the Sections have been carrying out various work

The Group visited Cladagh Glen Scout Centre for a camp based on an International theme which was enjoyed by a large number of our members. Mrs Rosemary Forde - Fermanagh County Commissioner attended to acknowledge the Services of the Scouters on behalf of Volunteer Now.

During the year visits were made to RNLI base at Killadeas and PSNI Station Enniskillen where all attending were able to learn about the vital services carried out by both Organisations. Donations were made to RNLI and North West Mountain Rescue Service during the year in acknowledgement of the links the Group has with both.

The Group having been formed in 1984 marks 40 years during 2024 and a special badge and book have been produced to acknowledge this milestone. On 25[th] February 2024 a special Founders Day service was held in Ardess Parish Church which was attended by numerous members and past members/leaders over the years. A special day for all concerned.

Various pieces of equipment were purchased throughout the year to enhance the programme of activities. A review of the current equipment owned by the Group has been undertaken and inventory updated to ensure appropriate Insurance is in place.

As part of our programme the Group formed links with 14[th] Fermanagh(Derrylin) Scouting Ireland . Visits were exchanged and both groups spent a day at Jungle NI โ€“ Very successful .

Overall a very successful year.
