STRUCTURE -GOVERNANCE-MANAGEMENT
1[st ] Magheraculmoney Scout Group's governing documents are those of the The Scout Association. They consist of a Royal Charter, which in turn gives authority to the Bye Laws of the Association and The Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.
1[st ] Magheraculmoney Scout Group is a trust established under its rules which are common to all Scouts.
The Trustees are appointed in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association.
The Group is managed by the Group Executive Committee, the members of which are the 'Charity Trustees' of the Scout Group which is an educational charity. As charity trustees they are responsible for complying with legislation applicable to charities. This includes the registration, keeping proper accounts and making returns to the Charity Commission as appropriate.
PURPOSES OF THE CHARITY
Promoting the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of the local, national and international communities.
PUBLIC AND PRIVATE BENEFIT OF OUR CHARITY
The Group meets the Charity Commission's public Benefit criteria under both the advancement of education and the advancement of citizenship or community development headings.
THE SCOUT METHOD
Scouting takes place when young people, in partnership with Adults, work together based on the values of Scouting and:
Enjoy what activities they are doing and have fun Learning by doing
Take part in activities indoors and outdoors Share in spiritual reflection
Take responsibility and make choices Undertake new and challenging activities Make and live up to their Scout Promise.
Outdoor activities, including camps, character building games, visits to local places of interest, indoor activities including learning about other cultures and countries, making things. Badge work, helping in community etc.
FINANCES
The finances of the Group are closely monitored on a regular basis. Current funds are held with Danske Bank. This year the Group was able in addition to grant from EA secured a grant from DAERA to continue the enhancement of group activities.
MEMBERSHIP
As at the 31st March our membership has increased from the previous year and now stands at 59. The Group has also a waiting list of names of possible members for September 23.
LEADERSHIP.
The leadership team has remained faithful and this year we welcomed two new members to the team. Assistance from young leaders also has been invaluable.
FINANCES
The increase in membership and Fundraising along with a grant from EA & DAERA ensured the group finances remain in a satisfactory position.
Various pieces of equipment was purchased to enhance the varied programme of activities
PROGRAMME
The three Sections BEAVERS- CUB SCOUTS-SCOUTS have all been participating in a wide range of activities throughout the year. The Group had a great response to the visit to Cladagh Glen Scout Centre 9[th] -10[TH] June 2022 which was a great success and all are looking forward to a longer visit in June 23.
A most successful Parents/Promise evening was held in October for all. During this evening the Leaders took the opportunity to acknowledge the Award of the Silver Wolf (The highest award in Scouting UK) to Group Scout Leader and founder of the Group in 1984 Maurice Lee M.B.E
Overall a most successful year after the difficult previous years.
