## **Our Purpose** 

Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. 

## **How the charity is constituted and governed** 

The Scout Group is governed under the terms of the Royal Charter issued to, and the policies, organization and rules pertaining, to the Scout Association in the United Kingdom. 

The 115[th] Scout Group is represented on and responsible to South East Belfast District Scout Council, Belfast County Scout Council and Northern Ireland Scout Council which ratifies appointment of adult leaders and oversees provision of leader training. 

## **Main Activities** 

The Scout Group achieves its aims by providing an enjoyable and attractive balanced program of activities. The various Sections of the Group follow the Scout Association programme of instruction and training that enables young people to achieve various awards and badges which are designed to deliver the purposes outlined above. The group has taken part in variety of indoor and outdoor activities throughout the year. 

The Scout Group comprises of four Sections to cater for various age groups and is open to boys and girls. 

Squirrel Scouts from 4 - 5 years old. 

Beaver Scouts from 6-8 years old. 

Cubs from 8-10½ years old. 

Scouts from 10½ - 14 years old. 

This year all sections have taken part in a variety of activities including badge work, working towards completing their challenge badges. 

As a direct result of the excellent programme delivered by our Leadership Team Group’s it continues to thrive, attracting new members each year.

While training of leaders is carried out through the Scout Association, our encompassing body. The Trustees are aware of their and the charity’s duty to meet the objectives of the charity, and to scrutinise the work of all those involved with the daily management and leadership of the various Sections.

sufficient to meet the financial needs of the group throughout the year. The Group meets in the District HQ and pays a quarterly charge which includes rental, heating, lighting and maintenance. The balance at year end is £3,147.49, further detail can be found in the Group accounts.
