Trustees, Annual Report for the year ended 31" December 2022 The trustees present the annual report and statement of Receipts and Payments and Assets and Llabllities for St Luke's Parish Church, Mullaglass for the year ended 31, December 2022. Ohjectives and Activlties The charitable purpose of the Church of Ireland is the advancement of religion. The prlncipal function of St Luke's Church of Ireland Parish is to support the advancement of the Christian religion by promoting, through the work of St Luke's Parish Church the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. Being open to and engaging with society as a whole and offering support for those needinE help are fundamental to the practical delivery of the benefits of Christianity. As a result of activi ty in the pursuit of the advancement of the Christian religion, the St Luke's Church of I rela nd Parish has custody of property and of records, materials and artefacts of significance to the cultural and religious heritage and maintenance of which is undertaken by the select vestry of the St Luke's Church of Ireland Parish. Achievements, Performance & Public Benefit St Luke's Parish Church, Mullaglas5 normally meets each Sunday morning at 10am for worship, During the year we had to do repairs to the Parish Hall roof as the concrete copings were perlshed and water had been Eetting into the plaster making it boast in places, so we had to re-plaster and dash parts and then put on new lead flashings and replace new concrete copings. Total cost of this was £6,496.00. We want to provide disabled access to our Church and with a view to that we had Mr Stephen Leighton, the Dlocesan Architect come out to provide us with slcetch plans at a cost of El,728.00. Fund raising this year came in the form of a fireside quiz, vinted afternoon tea, antique fair and the Christmas wreaths mal<ing a grand total of £3,648.30 for Church funds. We also raised E310 for CMS at our big breakfast on Easter Sunday. After the war broke out in Ukralne as always our parishioners were very generous and we raised £670 for the Bishops Appeal. Ih On Sunday 29 May we had our Childrens Day service which we combined with our celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee at which the children planted a tree to commemorate the occasion. On 8th September we as a parish were saddened to hear of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth11. May God Bless each and everyone in the Parish and may he continue to guide Alan and his ministry team in the way they deliver God's word to us all. Again we would like to thank you all for everything you do for the Parish either by your help, your thoughts, your prayers and most of all just the fellowship we all share together in the parish with God and each other. The Parish has given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities entered into during the year have helped to achieve the Parish's objectives and activities, as well as providing public benefit.

5t Trustee5' Annual Report for the year ended 31 December 2022 (continued) Financial Revlew With the continued support of all our parishioners and friends in our community who help to support us either by weel<ly giving or by attending our fund raising activities our income for the year was £32,184.62. We made charitable donations of £3594.00. We had to undertake some repalrs during the year which increased our expendlture to £39,980,21 and our ban1< balance at the end of the year was £21,841.88. More detail can be seen in the receipt and payments account after the auditoff s report. Going Concern The trustees have revlewed the budgets for the year ahead and are satisfied that there are adequate funds in place to ensure that the Parish can continue it5 activlties and the financlal statements for the year end 31" December 2022 can be signed off as a going concern. Structure, Governance and Management Governing Document and Constltutton of the Charity Chapter111 of the Constltution of the Church of Ireland govern5 Parishes and Parochlal Organi5ation. The Select Vestry members are the Charity Trustees. Recrultment and Appointment of Select Vestry All members of the Church of Ireland who are over the age of 18 and are either resident wlthin the parish or live elsewhere but have been accustomed members of the congregation for at least three months, may register as members of the general vestry of the parish, allowing them to attend and vote at meetlngs of the general vestry and to stand for electlon to the select vestry. Meetings of the general vestry are held at least once a year. The Select Vestry is elected as part of this General Vestry meeting. The Select Vestry wlll hold thelr positions for a period of one year. Select Vestry members may be re-elected annually and there is no limit on the number of terms whlch may be served. Pay and remuneratlon Where the Incumbent of the Parish stipend is paid directly by the Parish, provide information that the incumbent receives a stipend in accordance with figures approved by the General Synod of the Church of Ireland and details of office and locomotory allowances.

The Select Vestry consists of the meinber of clergy serving in the parish, the churchwardens, the glebe wardens and generally not more than twelve other members of the General Vestry elected at the General Vestry. The select vestry was chaired by our Rector Rev Alan P S Synnott. Select Vestry members are responsible for making decisions on matters of general concern and importance to the parish including deciding how parish funds are to be applied. The select vestry meets at times fixed by members or by the diocesan synod. Special meetings may be convened at any time by the chairperson or the churchwardens. In 2022 the Select Vestry meetings had an average attendance of Compliance with Public Beneflt The Pa rish has given careful consideration to the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland's guidance on public benefit to ensure that the activities entered into during the year have helped to achieve the Parish's objectives and activities, as well as provid ing public benefit. Statement of Trustees, Responsibilities The trustees are responsible for preparing the Tru5tees' Report and the statement of receipts and payments and statement of assets and liabilities In accordance with applicable law and regulations, The law applicable to charities in Northern Ireland with income of less than £250,000 requires the trustees to p repa re a statement of recei pts and payments and a statement of assets and liabilities for each financial year, The trustees are responsible for keeping accounting records that are sufficient to show and explain the Parish's transactlons and disclose with reasonable accuracy at any time the assets and liabilities of the Parish. They are also responsible for safeguarding the assets of the Parish and hence for tal<ing reasonable steps for the prevention and detection of fraud and other irregularities. Independent Examiner The examiner Noel Conn & Company has indicated their willingness to continue in office, and a resolution concerning his reappointment will be proposed at the Annual Easter Vestry Meeting. Respective responsibilities of charity trustees and examiner As the charity's trustees you are responsible for the preparation of the accounts In accordance with the Charities Act (Northern Ireland} 2008. It is our responsibility to,. examlne the accounts under section 65 of the Charities Act follow the procedures laid down in the general Directions given by the Commission under section 65(9llbl of the Charities Act state whether particular matters have come to my attention. Basls of independent examlner's report We have examined your charity accounts as required under sectlon 65 of the Charitles Act and my examination was carrled out in accordance with the general Directions given by the Charity Commission for Northern Ireland under section 65{91 Ibl of the Charltles Act. Our examinatlon included a revlew of the accounting records kept by the charity and a comparlson of the accounts presented with those reco rds. It also included consideration of any unusual items or disclosures in the accounts, a nd seeking explanations from you a5 charity trustees concerning any such matters. st Notes to the financlal statements forthe year ended 31 December 2022 Accounting policies Set out below are the principal accounting policies which have been adopted in the compilation of the Receipts and Payments Account and the Statement of Assets and Liabilities al Receipts and Payments Account All item5 of income and expenditure included within the Receipts and Payments Account have been accounted for on a cash recelpts basis. b) Statement of Assets and Liabilities Assets retalnedfor the Purlsh's own use The assets of the Parish, retained for its own use comprise:_ Church Building and Graveyard Parish Hall Glebe House The Church Buildlng and Graveyard are deemed to be Heritage assets as defined by the Charities SORP IFR51021.These Heritage a55ets are not included in the statement of assets and liabilities as information cannot be obtained at a cost commensurate with the benefit to the users of the accounts and to the parish. The Parlsh Ha111s recognised at cost of construction, being the estimated fair value of the property at 31.12.22. No depreciation has been provided on the parish hall buildlngs as the current estimated resid ual val ue is not less than its carrying value and the remaining useful life currently exceed5 50 years. Investments Fixed asset Investments comprising investment properties, investment5 in equities (ordinary shares) and investment in RCB/cif Unit Trusts are initially recorded at cost and are then subsequently started at fair value at each year end date, Investments in unquoted investments are recorded at cost and are assessed annually for impairment.

Transactlons with the Trustees The parish paid expenses of £570.00 relating to the running costs of the glebe house which is occupied by the rector. The Church does not own this property but pays a share as part of the parish grouping. No trustee received any remuneration or reimbursement of expenses during the year. No trustee or a person related to a trustee had any personal interest in any contract or transaction entered Into by the cha rity d u ring the year. 6. Governance Costs Governance costs of £879,00 were incurred during the year of which £234.00 relates to fees paid to the independent examiner. Governance costs are included within Administration costs In the Receipts and Payment5 Accounts.
