Trustee's Re ort for ear endin 31st December 2023 The Directorstrrustees of the charity (who are also Trustees for the purposes of charity law) present their annual report together with the audited financial statements for the year ended 31st December 2023. The trustees who served during the year and up to the date of this report are included within the Charitable return. The trustees have adopted the provisions of the Statement of recommended Practice (SORP) "Accounting and Reporting by Charities" (FRS 102) in preparing the annual report and financial statements of the charty. Pur oses of the Chari The main purposes are: The principal function is to support the advancement of the Christian religion by promoting through the work of the Parish the whole mission of the Church, pastoral, evangelistic, social and ecumenical. Being open to and engaging with society as a whole and offering support for those needing help is fundamental to the practical delivery of the tenets of Christianity. As a result of activity in pursuit of the advancement of the Christian religion, the Parish has custody of a large body of records, materials and artefacts of significance to the cultural heritage, the rna1ntenan of which is undertaken by the Parish as a secondary charitable purpose. Or anisatlonal Structure and D8Ci8ion Makin The govemance of the charitable company is the responsibility of the Trustees who are elected under the terms of the Governing Church of Ireland Constitution. Trustees are appointed at the Annual General Meeting.
Public Benefit The Trustees believe that both our purposes and the activities undertaken in this last financial year satisfy the public benefit requirement. These are noted within the Annual Report. ststement of Public Benefit Purpose 1 The expression of the precepls of the Christian religion through engagement with the general public, and in particular with the disadvantaged, the sick, the elderly and the young is a public benefit. This can be measured and evidenced through increased social integration and pastoral care delivered at the point of need. The direct benefit of participation in Church life includes the enjoyment of public worship and the giving and receiving of pastoral ministry, improved understanding of the values relating to civic engagement, community cohesion and providing a bridge between diverse groups as well as improved educational outcomes through the Church's ministry of teaching. The beneficiaries are the general public, and the public valuation of the benefits can be evidenced through attendance at public worship, participation in Church governance and willingness to support through contributions the continuing witness of the Church. The wider benefit to the public will outweigh any detriment arising in the course of Christian outreach. Any private benefit arising out of the fulfilment of our Christian ministry or to lay slaff is essential to the fulfilment of the purpose of the advancement of religion. No Trustee receives remuneration, reward or other private benefit for carrying out their Trustee responsibility. Purpose 2 The direct benefits flowing from this purpose include the provision of archive records, public enjoyment of cultural and historic buildings and artefacts such as church plate, furnishings and materials as well as an overall improved appreciation of longstanding Christian heritage.
This is demonstrated through on-going provision of access to records and the use made of these records .in, for example, research and genealogy, through conservation efforts in respect of records, propety and artefacts and the subsequent and continued requests for access and use of our materials by wider society. There is no hann arising from the purpose. The beneficiaries a the general public. No private benefit is received by trustees fulfilling their trustee responsibilities in respect of these records, buildings or artefacts, but in the course of conservation and to make these accessible to the public, the engagement of professional staff and seNices is essential but incidental to the fulfilment of the purpose. Rlsk Mana ement The Trustees have assessed the major risks to which the charitable is exposed, in particular those related to operations and finances, and are satisfied that systems and procedures are in place to mitigate exposure to the major risks. Achievements and Performance Durin the ear ended 31st December 2023 1. Weekly ServIS of Christian worship within Creggan Church of Ireland 2. Held community dinners for the benefrt of older people within the community and with Christian witness and input. 3. Supported the Bishops Appeal in Turkeylsyria 4. Held six other ServIS within the Church above and beyond weekly worship and which secured contribution and involvement from the broader communty. Financlal Revlew The charity reiVeS its income mainly from freewill offerings, internal fundraisers, and other donations. The expenses of the charity were incurred in the maintenance of the Church and associated buildings and land and the provision of relevant resources, advancing the objectives of the charity.
The charity returned a net profit for the year of £11,674.96 however the majority of this (just under £1 Ok) relates to the securing of an Awards For All grant which will be expended over the 2024 calendar year. Mr K DONALDSON Dated Trustee
