As the trustees for 2. Bangor (Abbey) Scout group we incorporate our benefit statement into our programmes, empowering youn8 people to make positive contributions to Society through bein8 engaged and Supported in their personal development, includin8 physically, Intellectually, sociallv and spirltually. This beneflt Is demonstrated through Scoutin8 makln8 a positive Impact in our communities,. preparing young people to be active citizens- embracin8 and contributin8 to social change,. beln8 diverse a5 the communities in which we operate. These are evidenced by feedback from our beneficiaries and the wider community. There 15 no harm arlsing from our purposes. Scouting operates wlthln a framework of safety to enable young people to take part in adventurous activities safely. Scouting beneficiaries are children youn8 people. The only private beneflt from th15 purpose is that Adult Volunteers are trained to deliver the programme. but this Is Incidental and nece55ary because It Is needed to operate In today's society working with young people. The group is sponsored by 8an8or Abbey Church of Ireland. We have no Ilabilitles and our assets are limited to a small amount of campin8 equipment l.e. tents. shelters and cooking equlpment and also trailer which is approachlng the end of its life. Here is a short report from each sertion.. 2 Bangor (Abbey) Beaver5 Beavers have had a great year wlth approx. 30 Beavers, We are fostering an environment of cooperation and friendship within our Beaver Colony and encouraging the children to help one another and work and play together whilst they learn about the world around them and work toward5 their badges. Beavers enjoyed a trip to Armagh Planetarium this year, picked up by coach in the morning they enjoyed a road trip before they were taken on a tour of the planetarium. Beavers made rockets, visited the 3d experience and enjoyed learning some new facts about space.
Beavers completed their World Challenge, teamwork challenge, cook, experiment, faith and space badges and 6 Beavers obtained their bronze Chlef Scout Award, the highest award a Beaver can achieve. Cubs had a fantastic year wlth approK. 30 cubs In the pack. We spent th15 year VrkIng on a varietv of badges including communicator, community impact, navigator. environmental conservatlon and a variety of water 5POrt badges. Cubs and Scouts enjoyed a summer camp at The Venture Centre in Isle of Man. The cubs had fantastic time and a variety of water activities including canoeing, kayaking, coasteering and 8or8e walkin8. They also enjoyed land based activities like archery, rifle shooting and hi8h ropes. The Scout sectlon contlnues to grow and we were delighted to join with the Cubs on a 4 day trip to 151e of Man. Thls15 our second year at the Venture Centre and It ha5 become a firm favourite. Scouts took part in a number of Ilghtwel8ht camping expedltions and overnlght hikes. Thev attended the county climbing day and achleved thelr backwoods cooking and survlval skills badges.
