Cubs
We have gained several beavers to join our cub pack. We also have
gained more young
people from our open night that we held in September to join our
adventurous cub pack.
Our cub pack had been super busy achieving a lot of activlty badges and
staged badges such
as, Environmentsl Conservation, Athletics, Collectors and Joining in.
These we achieved
through various crafts, activities and challenges on our local nights.
During October we held an indoor camp for the cubs, they had a
fantastic experience. The
time through camp they were able to achieve more badges which were,
Astronomer, Chefs
and Night Away Staged Badge. All the cubs left with big smiles on their
faces. The camp was
organised by Caleb and Sarah with the help of Joy and Richard.
Every cub in our cub pack has been awarded their membership award
badge and by doing
this they have promised to keep the cub scout law & promise and
code of conduct.
Scouts
Derryloran 5COUts have had another year filled with fun and activity.
The scouts have continued to do badge-work both inside and outslde of
the hall. Such as a number of hikes to gain some experience for those
wanting to try complete their Expedition challenge award. A list of

The highlight would have to be ourjoint camp with the explorers and
another Ioc31 scout group. We took part in the flintstone challenge and
the gladiator wall. Thankfully great weather allowed everyone to have a
great time.
Derryloran Squirrels report April I st 2023 to 31 St March 2024
During this time in squirrels we have gained and worked towards a
good varlety of our
badges. From April 2023 to June 2023 badges gained during this time
were our feel good
badge which we gained by talking about our feelings and discussing
what our favourite
things were and learning about ourselves and we also worked towards
our go wild badge by
creating a bug hotel using natural materials we all brought in from
home. We did a number
of games and physical activities using footballs, hoops, beanbags etc
outside to help go
towards our explore outdoor and get activities badges.
We also took a number of children to the squlrrels Nl trip to Todds Leap
in Ballygawley on
4th June 2023. The klds took part in a variety activlties such as the rope
bridge, super slide,
the truck ride through the forest, Inflatable activlties and the mud
kitchen and we got the
chance to explore the forest and see loads of ceramic lifelike dinosaurs
and jungle animals.

Scouts
This trip was good at gaining some extra points to earn more badge and
also went towards
our all about adventure and all around us badge challenge badges.
From September to December 2023 we touched on our feel good, get
active, superchef,
storytime, exciting experiments, brilliant builder and get creative
activity badges as well as
our all about and all together challenge badges. We gained these
through activitie5 such as
our supertato storybook theme night, making and eating fruit skewers,
a variety of physical
games and activities such as relay games, duck duck goose, hoop
games. etc. making mini
volcanoes and rainbows on science night, building forts and building
with lego and creating
loads of arts and crafts amd many more.
From January to March 2023 we made progress on our outdoors,
let&#39's celebrate, let it grow,
exciting experiments, get creative activity badge5 as well as our all
about adventure and all
around us badges. We did this through activities such as stargazing
outside, looking at our
local street to learn about road safety, making our own lava lamps,
planting seeds and
learning how to care for them, parachute and team games and learning
about chinese new year and how it it celebrated.
Beavers April 2023 - March 2024
Derryloran Beavers meet weekly on a Monday evening for games, craft
and badge challenges. 9 Beavers travelled to Crawfordsburn for the
annual Rally Day for games and actbvities from all over the world. We
held our first ever outdoor sleepover with 12 Beavers taking part. We
had a Mario Theme with craft, games and made buns with Mario
toppings. Nights Away badges and Campcraft badges were awarded.
We attended the Northern Ireland event at the Planetarium in Armagh
for a fun filled day, with lots of interactive displays and lots of
information. Launching their own hand made rockets was the highlight
of the day! The fun was notjust reserved for the Beavers as the leaders
took part in our own "Leaders Have a go day" at Crawfordsburn where

Scouts
we sampled caving, tomahawk throwing, climbing wall and archery.
Many badges were awarded including Emergency Aid, International,
Creative, Cooks, Communicator, Explore and Disability with Personal,
Challenge, My World and Skills badges being gained too. 5 Beavers
gained their Chief Scout Bronze Award
Explorers Aprll 2023 - March 2024
A Beetle Drive was held to fund raise for two of our young people who
were selected to attend the World Scout Jamboree in Korea. Two
Explorers took part in the World Scout Jamboree in South Korea. Whilst
it had its challenges, both boys had an experience of a lifetime. A day
outing to Prlson Island Escape Rooms In Belfast was a very competitive
and thoroughly enjoyable day away for our unit. Following the return of
our Explorers from Korea, we had an evening cooking and sampling
Korean food. New skills were introduced: sewing badges on to
uniforms. crafting a decorative light for a Christmas table decoration
and making dutch pancakes Ipoffertjesl have all featured on our agenda
this year. Two more Explorers were invited to attend the St Georges
Day Parade at Windsor Castle in April in recognition of being awarded
their Commissioners Award for assisting at the Queens Lying in State.
prior to her funeral. Scout and Explorer skills were tested with planning,
recording and particlpating in an overnight hlke from Davagh, staying
overnight in The Shepherd5 Rest, Draperstown and ending up at Lough
Fea. Our Explorers have been focused on completing mission5 for the
Young Leaders awards. Our young people are helping out with our
Squirrel, Beaver5 and Cubs sections and are a fantastic help to our
leadership teams. Our focus still remain5 on working towards Platinum,
Diamond and Kings Scout Awards as well as the Young Leaders award.
