Structure, Governance and management

The Group's governing documents are those of the Scout Association. They consist of a Royal Charter, which in turn gives authority to the Bye Laws of the Association and the Policy, Organisation and Rules of the Scout Association.

The group is a trust established under its rules which are common to all Scouts.

The Trustees are appointed in accordance with the Policy Organisation and Rule of the Scout Association

The Group is managed by the Group Executive Committee, the members of which are the 'Charity Trustees' of the Scout Group which is an educational charity. As charity trustees they are responsible for complying with the legislation applicable to charities. This includes the registration, keeping proper accounts and making returns to the Charity Commission as appropriate.

The committee consists of 3 independent representatives, Chair, Treasurer and Secretary together with the Group Scout Leaders, individual section leaders and parent's representation and meets every 4 months.

The Group Executive Committee exists to support the Group Scout Leader in meeting the responsibilities of the appointments and is responsible for:-

The raising of funds and administration of Group Finance The insurance of person’s property and equipment Group public occasions Assisting in the recruitment of leaders and adult support Appointment of any sub committees that may be required Appointment of group administrators and advisors other than those who are elected

The Purpose of the Charity

Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.

As scouts we are guided by these values:-

Scouting takes place when young people, in partnership with adults, work together based on the values of Scouting and:

Scout Report 2023/2024

Scouts are for ages 10½ to 14. A step up from Cubs,

We have a regular attendance of 22 – 29 children made up of boys and girls

Scouts have a wide variety of activity badges to earn. These take a lot more effort and commitment to achieve. Scouts like to get outdoors as much as possible and always look forward to camps. The Chief Scout Gold Award is highest Award a Scout can achieve.

Cub Scout’s Report 2023/2024

Cub Scouts are for ages 8 to 10. Their programme includes games, crafts, badge work and outdoor activities.

We have 27 children made up of boys and girls

They take part in District events and outdoor visits – local fire station, scout centre etc.

The Chief Scout Silver Award is highest Award a Cub which can achieve before they move on to Scouts

Beavers Report 2023/2024

Beaver Scouts are for ages 6 to 8. Their programme includes games, crafts and badge work.

At present we have 20 children made up of boys and girls

Days away at various children’s venues, open ark farm, and scout centre etc.

The Chief Scout's Bronze Award is the highest Award they can achieve.

Squirrel’s Report 2023/2024

Squirrel scouts are for ages 4 – 6.

Their programme includes team games, crafts & badge work.

At present we have 18 children a mixture of boys and girls

As now part of the scout association it gives the children more scope to join in evets with the other sections in our scout group.

Financial Review

The group's policy on reserves is to hold sufficient resources to continue the charitable activities of the group should income and fundraising activities fall short.

Our total income which has already been out lined in our accounts including our carry over from 2023-2024 was £ 24,861.24 - expenditure was £ 12,851.02

Leaving the group with a surplus of: - £ 12,010.22

Investment Policy

The group does not have sufficient funds to invest in longer term investments. The group therefore adopted a risk adverse strategy to the investment of its funds. All funds are held in cash only using only mainstream banks
