## **A summary of the Charity’s main activities to further its purposes for the public benefit and the main achievements in the year**

In January we planned our programme for the coming year. It included activities requiring acting skills, a blind tea tasting, mimicking animals and building an ideal community. We celebrated World Thinking Day, exploring the meaning of our Trefoil, and remembering girl guides in Ukraine, who are unable to meet. As a reminder of their struggles, we made Motanky dolls.

We gave a Duke of Edinburgh Gold presentation to parents about our flora & fauna project in the Sperrin Mountains using photography. For Mothers’ Day we made cards and watersculpted candles. One girl achieved her Ranger Bronze Award for completing two parts of our programme.

As Easter crafts we made thumb-print chick cards, and string eggs using a balloon. We planned a winter festival with hot chocolate and s’mores and took part in the Lorne Walk, a sponsored a Treasure Hunt around Broughshane. We joined all the Guiding units in Broughshane for a Coronation Party. We had food, music and laughter and renewed our Promise to the new sovereign. Later we dined out with pizzas.

Three girls achieved selection for International Camps in Norway & Switzerland in Summer 2024, and several girls completed residentials for the DofE Gold Award. We also completed interest badges to go with the Skills Builders and Unit Meeting Activities parts of the programme and did Halloween crafts. A few Ranger Silver Awards were presented.

We undertook Acts of Remembrance in the unit and the church, and we explored Girlguiding’s contribution to the war effort. Just before Christmas we had a weekend residential to the Ranger Cottage at Lorne – Girlguiding Ulster’s Training & Activity Centre. Activities included Secret Santa, upcycling Christmas crafts, a Christmas dinner, board games and a walk around the grounds. We also made Christmas cards and gifts to be sold at the village Christmas Fair, raising funds for those going on international trips in 2024

Seven girls participated during the year.
