TS Warrior Carrickfergus Sea Cadets Chairman’s Report

I am pleased to note our Staff and Volunteer numbers have increased however, with the increase in activity within the Unit, the individual workloads have gone upwards as well. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the Staff and Volunteers for your continuing support for our Cadets and the Unit. Without you we wouldn’t be able to continue providing our Young People so many fantastic opportunities.

The Unit Management Team continues to work behind the scenes and as a priority, to seek Grant Aid and Funding for projects. Our Treasurer, John Balmer, continues to monitor the purse strings and ensures that the bank balance remains in as healthy a state as possible through his oversight. Winston Cheshire as Honorary Secretary, continues to keep us all on the straight and narrow as regards the day to day running of the building. Our OIC is still on a steep learning curve. His drive and enthusiasm will no doubt ensure his continuing success in leading the Unit forward.

The Unit has once again been awarded Burgee Status and to say the least the comments from the Captain and his staff were extremely complimentary and I’m sure, with some pride, the CO will happily read some of them out after my report.

Our Cadets continue to make their parents and all our Staff proud with their individual and collective achievements which our CO will outline shortly. Each Cadet is a spoke in the wheel and every spoke is vital for it to continue running true. Each and every time our Cadets turn out on Parade they attract nothing but positive comments from the organisers and members of the public. The Sea Cadet Corps opens to our Cadets opportunities that are undreamt of by other organisations. I would urge each and every one of them to grab those opportunities for a life changing experience. The Management Committee are here to support the Cadets and Staff in their endeavours and we look forward to continuing to do so.
