## 70[th] Chairs Report Carrickfergus Sea Cadets

AS we finally see light at the end of the tunnel as regards COVID restrictions the Unit is slowly getting back to normality. Thankfully the Unit, as a whole, escaped the outbreak we still have numerous Cadets and Staff being infected from outside sources. Cadet numbers have remained steady as have those of the staff. As we slowly return to normality, we look forward to actively recruiting both Cadets and Staff again.

Financially it has again been a challenging year due to COVID and National Financial trends and the loss of a significant portion of the Education and Library Board funding resulting in having to issue a redundancy notice to our Caretaker. Day to day running expenses have been largely covered by Government and Library Board easement grants. We trust that our active fundraising efforts over the past few months will bare fruits.

Maintenance of the building has been a primary focus with the recertification of the electrical systems and the untimely requirement to replace the heating boiler. We are extremely grateful to both the MSCC and Carrickfergus Literary and Scientific Society for their assistance in funding these items.

I trust that the coming year will see the Unit getting back to a more normal level of activity both on and off the water and within the community As we move into the 70[th] Year since our formation we look forward to celebrating alongside the Platinum Jubilee celebrations for Her Majesty the Queen. I have no doubt that it will be a memorable occasion for us all.
