Trustees Report for the year ended 31/12/17

Gillygooley Youth and Community Development Association(GYCDA) seeks to promote community awareness and responsibility and provides the means whereby people and organisations based in the Gillygooley area can come together.

The charity purpose is to provide a community centre for all the local residents. We provide an affordable and locally based facility for organisations and people of all ages and genders to meet and participate in a range of education, cultural, sporting, musical and social activities. Groups that have benefited from our facility this year include;

Gillygooley 2[nd] Youth (50+ club)

Gillygooley Youth club

Gillygoooley Orange Lodge

Corlea Apprentice Boys

Gillygooley Pipe band

Gillygooley Primary School

Gillygooley Presbyterian Church

Gillygooley walking club.

The community association itself organised a summer scheme for the local children to meet up during the summer holidays. We also organised jive classes, floral art display, Christmas party for senior citizens and a carol service.

By providing these social activities in the Gillygooley area we are able to enhance the opportunities available to the inhabitants of this rural community. Most of the events are planned annually based on the continued support and appreciation that participants show to the organisers of the events which are going from strength to strength each year.

Each year the association supports the work of a local charity by holding a special collection at events.

GYCDA has mitigated any potential harm by following its appropriate policies and procedures.

GYCDA has given careful consideration to the Charity Commission NI’s guidance on Public benefit to ensure that the activites entered into during the year have helped to achieve the associations objectives as well as providing Public benefit.

There is no private benefit.
