Malaika Orphanage Group NIC103988
Trustees Annual Report for year ending April 05 2018
The aim of our Charity is to continue to care for and educate 12 girls taken into this Kenyan Orphanage as young children in 2008.
One of these children has now started studying at University
The Orphanage was established by Jacinta Mullan in her home town Mwiki on the outskirts of Nairobi in the wake of the 2008 ethnic violence.
The Charity is supported in its day to day running costs through sales of donated items, Street collections and an annual golf competition.
Malaika Kenyan Orphanage, a rented shop at 1 Campsie Road Omagh BT79 0AE is the base for the Charity’s fundraising.
Over the years since 2008 we have just about managed, with the help of a small number of volunteers and the generosity of the public, to send enough funds to feed, clothe and educate these children. However, education is expensive and increases with each level from primary to high school through to university.
Having talked to our Independent Examiner we think it would be useful to register for Gift Aid and we intend to investigate this now.
