| A summary of the Charity’s main activities and achievements in the year |
All sections of the group have remained active: Squirrels (4-6), Beavers (6-8), Cubs (8-10), Scouts (10-14). Section meetings take place weekly during term-time, following a structured programme of age-related games and activities, to engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. The Group has been working very hard and has had an active and busy year. The Squirrels have taken part in educational activities, Be Active, Feel Good, Get Creative, Story Telling, Super Chef and Local Superhero this included a visit by the police. Several Acorn Awards were achieved. The Beavers took part in lots of activities to gain their Chief Scout Bronze Award. Some of these were, Air Activity, Builder, Cook, Cyclist, Digital Citizen, Health and Fitness, Hobbies, Safety and Teamwork to name a few. The Cubs took part in activities to gain their Chief Scout Silver Award. Some of these included Local Knowledge, Hobbies, Road Safety, Fire Safety, and Navigator, they visited the Ulster Aviation Society museum to gain their Air activities stage award. Scouts took part in lots of activities to gain the Chief Scout Gold Award. Visits to the Ulster Aviation Society museum at Kesh and the Eco millennium Environmental centre at Ballymena. Weekend camps were held in Newcastle. |
