They consist ot a Royal Charter, which in turn gives authority to the Bye Laws of the Association and The Policy, Organisation and Rules of The Scout Association. The Group is managed by the Group Executive Committee. The chair is our Group Scout Leader and the rest of the members are section leaders from within the Group. Section B Structure* governance and management (continued) Risk and Internal Control The Group Executive Committee has identified risks that they believe the group is exposed to. Section C Objectives and activities The Purpose of Scouting Scouting exists to actively engage and support young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society. Section D Achievements and performance Summary of the main achievements of the charity during the year Our Scout Group Sections and Table Tennis Club met throughout the year and took part in events run by the Lisburn District as well as running our programme of badge related activities. At the annual census at the start of 2023 we registered 47 young people {12 Beavers. 21 Cubs and 14 Scouts). The Cubs had a residential weekend at Lorne Guiding Centre and Scouts had a weekend at the Lisburn District Bothy in the Moumes, these were both well attended. The table tennis club met on thursday nights wth around 10 members and they ran a junior section on tuesday evenings with 4 to 6 under 18's attending regulary and had 2 teams entered in the East Down Churches League. We decorated the back room of our hall and purchased new magnetic white boards during the year. We have still to complete our storage extension but materials have been purchased from a local Builders Merchant and floor and wall sections have been prefabricated, we do hope to have it done by spring 2024. Section E Financial Review Brief statement of the charity's policy on reserves Reserves Policy The Group's policy on reserves is to hold sufficient resources to continue the charitable activities of the group should income and fundraising activities fall short. The Group Executive Committee considers that the group should hold a minimum sum equivalent to 6 months running costs, circa £1,500. The seperate sections may also keep a reserve for future purchases of equipment etc. The Group Executive held £4,446 at year end, well above the level required for operating expenses. After spending £3,732 on materials and decorating the back room the Maintenance Fund had a balance of £6,821 at year end. The Group has therefore adopted a low risk strategy to the investment of its funds.
