Purposes of Our Charity:

Public & Private Beneft of Our Charity:
THE TRUSTEES HAVE HAD REGARD TO THE CHARITY COMMISSIONS PUBLIC BENEFIT REQUIREMENT STATUATORY GUIDANCE
-
The benefit which flows from our purpose is that young people are empowered to make a positive contribution to society through being engaged and supported in their personal development, including physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually.
-
This benefit is demonstrated through Scouting making a positive impact in our communities; preparing young people to be active citizens; embracing and contributing to social change; being as diverse as the communities in which we operate. These are evidenced by feedback from our beneficiaries and the wider community.
-
There is no harm arising from our purposes. Scouting operates within a framework of safety to enable young people to take part in adventurous activities safely.
-
Scouting’s beneficiaries are children and young people.
-
The only private benefit from this purpose is that Adult Volunteers are trained to deliver the programme, but this is incidental and necessary because it is needed to operate in today’s society, when working with young people.
Main actvites to further purposes for public beneft:
- Scouting actively engages and supports young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
Main achievements in the year: (Group Scout Leaders Report)
-
It has been good to return to normal Scouting meeting weekly again after the past few year’s restrictions.
-
In the past year, 1[st] Muckamore Scout Groups membership has decreased slightly. The Beaver section remains closed since 2019 because of lack of leaders – but we are still receiving interest from new potential starts for the Beaver age group.
-
Our current leadership team consists of Michelle, Caroline and Sonia in the Cub section with Michael, Alan and Peter in the Scouts and Explorer sections.
-
We have been struggling to recruit mew leaders over the past few years and as a result we often have to ask leaders to supervise multiple sections.
-
Our Cub section continued to work towards various badges as part of the Cub program. They also have attended numerous outings including the district camp in Crawfordsburn and an indoor residential camp at Dunluce Guide house.
-
Our Scout and Explorer sections continued to work towards various badges as well as engaging in District events.
-
On a positive note – the groups bank balance is in good health.
-
I would like to thank all those who volunteer as leaders within the Group for their commitment over the past year, and the parents for supporting your children to attend Cubs, Scouts and Explorers and participate in Scouting activities throughout the Year.
Review of Our Charity’s Financial Positon as of 31[st] December 2023
-
Our Groups Funds are in a healthy state, and we do not have any debts or funds in material deficit.
-
We do not currently have a reserves policy but collect subscriptions and fees on a regular basis to satisfy contingencies and anticipated regular expenses.
