• Purposes of our charity:
Promoting the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentials, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and international communities
• Public and Private Benefit of our Charity:
The benefit which flows from our purpose is that young people are empowered to make a positive contribution to society through being engaged and supported in their personal development, including physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually.
This benefit is demonstrated through Scouting making a positive impact in our communities; preparing young people to be active citizens; embracing and contributing to social change; being as diverse as the communities in which we operate. These are evidenced by feedback from our beneficiaries and the wider community.
Scouting actively engages and supports young people in their personal development, empowering them to make a positive contribution to society.
• Main achievements in the year: (Group Scout Leader’s Report)
It has been another successful and busy year for all sections within 1[st] Muckamore Scout Group.
Being a member of Slemish District has continued to give opportunities for all sections within the Scout group.
Unfortunately, due to having no leaders and poor Beaver numbers – the group had to take the decision to temporary suspend the Beaver Section in September 2019. This is the first time in the Groups history that we have had to take this unavoidable measure. The hope is in the future to reopen this section.
Our Cub section continued to work towards various badges as part of their Cub Program. They also had numerous outings including the Cubs NI Tayto Trip and a residential at Dunluce. They have continued to attend Slemish District events throughout the year.
Our Scouts & Explorer sections also continued to work towards various badges as part of their Program. These included the Scanwise, Circus, DIY and Chef activity badges. They also attended visits to Stormont and the local Police station as well as a Camp at Shanes Castle. District events were also attended which included a new activity for the Explorer Scouts – Clay Pigeon Shooting.
As a group we have participated in various services over the year including the annual Remembrance Day parade and the District Saint George’s Day parade.
With all these great opportunities as well as regular badge work and games, our group enrolment has stabilised in terms of growth even with the loss of the Beaver Section.
We are particularly delighted with the achievements of the young people in 1[st] Muckamore Scout Group within the past year.
The highlight of the Scouting Year was that longest serving member of the Group – Sam Wilson was awarded the Silver Wolf which is the highest award made by the Scout Association for services of the most exceptional character.
• Review of our charity’s financial position as at 31[st] December 2019: Our Group funds are in a healthy state and we do not have any debts or funds in material deficit.
We do not currently have a reserves policy but collect subscriptions and fees on a regular basis in order to satisfy contingencies and anticipated regular expenses.
AGREED BY ALL TRUSTEES
