## **90[th] Scout Troop**

The 90th Scout Group has an overall number of 12 scouts!

We are able to retain all the Cubs transferring from the 40th and we welcome Josh as a new Leader. This is the maximum the troop will be able to accommodate as the leader/scouts ratio and hall space need to increase to be able to accommodate a bigger number.

During the 2024 scouting year, scouts have enjoyed a series of camps and trips.

The 90th had the usual bike hike with refreshments half -way and this was well supported.

We are fully involved into the RADICAL project with Queen University Belfast – Centre for Children Rights.

The Aims of this Project Are:

Be theory makers - Come up with a theory of respect and disrespect.

Be co-researchers - Help us design and carryout the research. Evaluate your involvement - Reflect on how the advisory group is working.

We attended a Residential weekend in Ardaluin House in Newcastle on28th-29th September We visited QUB and still helping with the Research.

We are delighted to report that we continue to have a very strong girls’ representation and welcome scouts from all backgrounds as usual in the troop and that we have all had a wonderful year. It has worked very well having both boys and girls in the troop and they have really enjoyed the time spent together!

## **AdMaiora Explorers Unit**

The Explorers Unit at McCracken has an overall number of 5 explrorers!

The majority of explorers are old scouts coming from the 40th/90th groups, but we have had more enrolled from other groups.

We are meeting at the same time of 90[th] as we need to maintain the leaders/scouts ratio ; this proved to be working weel , as older explorers are helping with the troop activities.

The majority of explorers are old scouts coming from the 40th/90th groups, but we have had more enrolled from other groups.

Activities for the past year have all been shared with 90[th] Belfast including the RADICAL project mentioned above.

Finally, I would like to extend our thanks to the Fountainville Trust for its ongoing support; the McCracken Memorial Presbyterian Church for the continued use of facilities as well as their pastoral support, and to all parents, helpers and leaders.
