Achlwomènts and ￿rIorMance
The dominant theme in this financial year continued to be Covid but thankfulty life after Covid as many
of our students, frdmilies ty to rebuild their lives and their finar￿tt after a very drfficull couple of years.
One key factors in this has been the retum to sch￿1 and the reLaunch of free education at UCCI'S
main site in Kethanakonda AP.
In last yearfs report we mentioned the Fossibility of a significant change due to the UCCI school in
Hyderabad being closed. This school had been our main focus for many years, but we understood
thal there was increasing difficulties with the site.
Ouring the year UCCI sold the school site and as a have been abk to reinvest £200.000 from
the sale on improving frac41￿e$ in Kethenakonda their main srte.
These faciltties will serve not onty the students we sponsor but others stutying in hKJher dasses
which we a￿ glad to see.
As a result of the sale plus the lengthy Covid closure all of the children we now supwrt are new
students in KethenakoTrJa. Some 280 children aged 4 to 14 are al￿adY attending the school. This
has been very encouraging. and it is planned to develop the use of English as the primary medium of
teaching which is very important in South India where English is generalty the comrTh)n language of
quality and higher education.
As students have returned. we have increased our supwrt for the school and hope to maintsin this
higher level in the year ahead.
Already we have noted the management of the school to be much rn0￿ effective and enthuskistic in
contrast to the drffiujfaes with the previous location in Hyderabad.
As 2￿YS, we are deepty grateful to our sponsor5 for th￿"r ongoing SUPF#rt without their generosty
none of this could function.
We have maintained very regular contact with the UCCI team and in Apn'l we were able to visit the
project for the first time after COVID which was very helpful. an￿1pate trKJre teams will follow in
202212023 to work diredy the students and sponsored children.
