Chairman’s Report

Another year and fresh challenges to our work. We all appreciate that time and money are in short supply so I thank everyone for their hard work during the year. In particular it is good that financially we are still afloat but there is much room for improvement in terms of hall hire. We have a bright, modern space with excellent facilities and hire costs are more than reasonable. It would be good to set a target for the coming year to see a 25% increase in hire – particularly from government (including local).

The highlights of the year remain the Festival and Christmas. A steady band of volunteers have helped to make these events a magical time for our community. I would like to thank these volunteers for their dedication and persistence. They, like me were very disappointed in the size of the Christmas tree supplied by Council. I am convinced that some of the homes in Kesh had bigger ones in their front room! I can only hope that things improve for 2024.

It was also sad to say goodbye to Alan Beacom, our Town Orderly for many years. Alan conducted his duties with pride and attention to detail. We wish him well in his retirement and hope that he is not a stranger to the village.

Finally I want to thank Catherine for her hard work and to the various sponsors and supporters who have helped keep the lights on and the doors open. These include our own Kesh Enterprise Co Ltd, Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and for this year the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland. I would also like to thank all the hall users for their support particularly the Evergreens, Bowling Club and Surestart.

We look forward to better times coming and a greater sense of community awareness so that we can run more classes and events for the benefit of our residents.
