Scouts 40th Belfast Scout Group Report 2022-2023 Purpose of Charity: Promoting the development of young people in achieving their full physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potential, as individuals, as responsible citizens and as members of their local, national and intemational communities. Names of Charity Trustees David Scott, Interim Chair Laura Landi, Secretary Alastair Rankin, Treasurer Gillian Rankin, Group Scout Leader Summary of main activities It was with pleasure that the group welcomed the Mccracken Squirrel Drey as full members of the Scout Association and the 40th Belfast Scout Group. The Squirrel Drey maintained some online and outdoor activities in 2022 and all sections of the group re-opened for faCe-tO-fa￿ meetings in September. The Squirrels achieved their Local Superhero Activity Badge and their All About Me Challenge Award. They also attended the Christmas at Elfnavalley event at Ardnavalley Scout Centre. The group welcomed Ellie Hughes as Beaver Scout Leader with Josh and Ellen Schultz and Ellen Mawhinney as assistants. Beavers have taken part in many activities around the topics of space and intemational games and festivals. They attended a joint sleepover with two other colonies at Ardnavalley Scout Centre.

Under the leadership of Kathryn Moscato and Jenny Scullion and with the assistance of Ruth Mccalmont and Lisa McKinney the Cubs have enjoyed outdoor activities at Ardnavalley Scout Centre and cooking, baking and Chinese New Year games. The group is indebted to all leaders and assistsnts for their inspirational leadership in resuming activities after the Covid pandemic. Review of financial position Group income amounted to £3,658.00 including a grant of £1,500.00 from the Fountainville Trust. Group expenditure amounted to £3,600.OOincluding the purchase of 4 camping tents. As a result the balance at the bank increased from £9,216.70 to £9,274.99. Public Benefit Statement In carrying out their duties this year, the Trustees have had regard to the Commission's public benefit statement. The Group provides scouting activities for children aged 4 to 10112 which offer educational and physical activities to help children learn and develop. The benefit which flows from our purpose is that young people are empowered to make a positive contribution to society through being engaged and supported in their personal development, including physically, intellectually, socially and spiritually. This benefit is demonstrated through Scouting making a positive impact in our communities; preparing young people to be active citizens, embracing and contributing to social change; being as diverse as the communities in which we operate. These are evidenced by feedback from our beneficiaries and the wider community. There is no harm arising from our purposes. Scouting operates within a framework of safety.
